Lyrics for A Kind Of Magic as interpreted by Novartza

A Kind Of Magic Lyrics
It's a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
A kind of magic
One dream one soul one prize one goal
One golden glance of what should be
It's a kind of magic
One shaft of light that shows the way
No mortal man can win this day
It's a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
It's a kind of magic
The waiting seems eternity
The day will dawn of sanity
Is this a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
There can be only one
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done
This flame that burns inside of me
I'm here in secret harmonies
It's a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
It's a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
The rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be will soon be
Will soon be done
This is a kind of magic
There can be only one
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done-done
Magic - it's a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
Magic magic magic magic
Ha ha ha it's magic
It's a kind of magic

There is a reversed noise in this song, which you are able to hear just before Freddie says "One dream...", and it's repeated another time. If you reverse that sound, you can hear: "Watch you..."

This is a song is on the Soundtrack for the film(s) HighLander, think about it "There Can Be Only One"
then look at the rest of the lyrics it fits. Dunno if it was written specificly for highlander tho.

Queen was excellent at capturing a mood in their music that fits well into big screen movies. Freddie Mercury's voice was capable of displaying so much emotion, and it is no suprise that movie producers and directors have used Queen's music in movies.

DaddyMack: chances are this was written especially for Highlander. It says so at their site:
www.queen-fip.com
It's under the "A Kind of Magic" disk which is in the "History" bit.

I believe it was written for Highlander too. I mean, the lyrics, the album it appeared on, which doubled as the soundtrack to Highlander.

Did you know that this is not the original version of the song? Roger had a different idea for the song (more of a dark and serious idea), but Freddie and the others played with it, and it became the song that we know and love today.

All things considered, A Kind Of Magic is one of Queen's most innovative songs, and is definitely receiving the recognition that it deserves.

It was written for Highlander, and Roger's original version can be heard over the end credits of the film

The reversed word is "magic"... Freddie I think said in an interview they reversed it and added it in there, to make it actually make a song that'd remind you of magic.

Despite being a Roger track, Freddie sent Roger on holiday to the US (I think the US), and Freddie re-did it. The version on Highlander is Roger's idea. The album version, with the heavy bass, is Freddie's idea. Less guitar too.

I remember listening to this song loudly on my CD player in my high school, and the guy next to me thought I was a dork or something. I don't care, there is just something about this song that is just awesome, even if I have no idea what the lyrics mean. Freddy's vocals ARE magic in this song.

the idea for the song came from a scene in the Highlander movie, when Connor McLeod get's shot by a German soldier, while he's holding a little girl Rachel (who became his assisten later on),so he falls down, but he isn't death and the girl askes him "why didn't you die" he reply's "hey, It's a kind of magic"

This song talks about something we all have inside (the bell that rings inside your mind), some sort of inherent magical sense (I´m hearing secret harmonies), that lets us know that things could be better, and that it's up to us (a golden glance of what should be). It could be seen as some sort of divine illumiantion, the feeling that makes you see that there is something greater, something eternal (lasts a thousand years, challenges the doors of time, the waiting seems eternity), that kind of sets the order of things, and through connecting with this kind of magic, you could have a glimpse of what should be.
It also is optimistic since it says that rage will soon be done, and the day will dawn os sanity when the eternal wait ands.

well it is a fact that this song is based of Jesus Christ, "This rage that lasts a thousand years", the bible talks about jesus reigning for 1000 yrs on earth.

One dream one soul one prize one goal
One golden glance of what should be
It's a kind of magic
One shaft of light that shows the way
No mortal man can win this day

that whole section is all based on christ, whether you want to accpet it or not! No mortal man, obviously means him, one dream, one soul, one prize, it is all based on jesus' soul, prize and dream.

it may seem confusing, but it is the truth.

Pretty cool song but for some reason, the book in the triple platinum collection states that the single was a worldwide smash hit and topped the charts in no less than 35 countries. Interestingly, it peaked only at number 3 in the band's native UK and it hasn't been confirmed what 35 countries the song went to number 1 in. In fact, not one country has been confirmed. Perhaps it was 35 schools?

it seems to me...others may disagree....that this is one song that soundedd good only at the studio......it sunds great.....even though they played great live...this song never quite had the same feeling live.....the Music Video was really good....but it didn't sound as good at Wembley....even though it was live and bold....it just didn't have that oomph to it.

I actually like the live version much better. The studio one is alright and I'm not a fan of all their videos. You kind of feel cheated buying greatest video hits II when a few of the videos only feature queen performing the song. (i.e. friends will be friends, i want it all, one vision)
