Lyrics for Under Pressure as interpreted by Novartza

Under Pressure Lyrics
Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you no man ask for
Under pressure - that burns a building down, splits a
family in two
Puts people on streets

That's OK
It's the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming "Let me out!"
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets
Chippin around - kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
People on streets (twice)

It's the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming "Let me out!"
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets

Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
Why-why-why
Love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking

Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we give love.....
Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for the people on the edge
of the night
And love dares you to change our way of caring about
ourselves
This is our last dance, this is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure

I feel really ashamed of myself because the first time I ever heard this song, I thought it was Vanilla Ice. I almost killed my cousin (who made me listen to the song) for mistaking Vanilla Ice for Queen. Good thing I listened for a few more seconds.

one of the primary things that helps me get up and face the day even on the roughest of mornings is the glowing satisfaction of the fact that Vanilla Ice is gonna die one of these days, and probably before I do.

:) happy things.....

i absolutely love this song, it was part of a queen medley i did for yr 6 graduation. i really hate that Vanilla Ice STOLE the little tune, and what really pisses me off is that they tried to deny it, saying they added an extra note at the end BUT THEY DIDN'T THEY ARE JUST LOSERS WHO SHOULD GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry. i feel pretty strongly about that.

first off, Vanillia Ice toatlly ripped this song off. secondly, this, next to Stairway to Heaven, is one of my most favorite songs just because of the meaning behind it. it talks of growing up "Under pressure" and dealing with it all.

Queen were vastly overrated and heres one of the prime examples, a boring song so good it was nicked by that multi hit wonder vanilla ice, the bass sends me to sleep after a stressful day at work.

This nearly moved me to tears because it was so perfect. I'm pretty confident that Queen and Bowie have some form of superhuman powers ;)

according to bowie, this song is about the boring subject called LOVE :D (so he probably wrote the love parts... just guessing) :D

funny how none wants to take credit of the most recognizeable and most controversial part of the song... the bass riff..
according to john deacon, david bowie created it. according to david, it's already there when he arrived... then brian and roger credited it to john. oh well, i guess it's enough for them to know they made one GREAT song, they don't care who gets the credit... and i guess it's true that imitation is the sincerest/greatest form of flattery, that's why Queen did not wish to get involved when Hollywood records sued vanilla ice.

this song rocks!!!

This song is about being sexuality ( being gay) as I seen mentioned once in the comments i glanced at.
Burns a building down;splits a family in two; puts people on streets..explains itself there.
Watching some good friends screaming "Let me out!"
- They don't want to accept how they are, but they have to face it.. Mostly this song is about how 'gay people' are not excepted in a 'normal' society. And what the disadvantages of coming out are.
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
its tainted love; no one is accepting it. and im pretty sure the rest is self explanitory. Anywho. Great freakn song. love it. I dont care what it means cause its so freakin fantastic

a duet between freddie mercury & david bowie is the stuff of legends. an epic song that relates to my life perfectly right now! ;) i'm a freshman at university, and the pressure rests on me (and other fellow freshmen) pretty literally. "why can't we give love?" is the kind of line that hits me like a thunderbolt, and "this is our last dance" is possibly the best conclusion to a song. gosh, i can't thank mercury (rip) and bowie enough for this song. AMAZING.

Powerful song, why can't we give love that one more chance?

I've heard the Used and MCR version and they just don't have the feeling that was put into the original.

NO NO NO.

This song means that it is hard to change for someone when the pressure of the relationship is on. But you have to keep trying. David bowie said that love is such an old fashioned word he is refering to the younger generations that are falling in love with each other and getting bored quick then not being in love. Because love will make you WANT to fit into each others lives. Not from the pressure of being Under Pressure. If you dont want to change for someone you are not in love. It makes you see the entire world differently. and to top it off...to all you fags are here talking about vanilla ice sampling this work of art.... WHO GIVES A SHIT?

its the terror of knowing what this world is about, watching good friends screaming ' let me out '

makes me think hes referring to people wanting to get out of the world , as in suicide and im sure everyone had friends who wanted to commit suicide

To me it is about bring back the ideas of the sixties: "Why can't we give love that one more chance?"
"Cause love's such an old fashioned word"
"And love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night"
"And love dares you to change our way of caring about
ourselves"

By the time this was written, the 60s movement had been gone for a while, along with caring for "People on the streets."
