Lyrics for Under Pressure as interpreted by Novartza

Under Pressure Lyrics
Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you no man ask for
Under pressure - that burns a building down, splits a
family in two
Puts people on streets

That's OK
It's the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming "Let me out!"
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets
Chippin around - kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
People on streets (twice)

It's the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming "Let me out!"
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets

Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
Why-why-why
Love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking

Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we give love.....
Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for the people on the edge
of the night
And love dares you to change our way of caring about
ourselves
This is our last dance, this is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure

David Bowie + Freddie Mercury = Most Androgenous Song in Existence.

Though I really really like it and I hate that bastard Vanilla Ice for ripping off the bass. Jerk.

Obvious song about the pressure of life. God they rule.
Another song that could have been about Freddy and aids...but I doubt it. Lemme know (email or IM or something if u know which ones ABSOLUTELY were). I'm curious about that.

The video for this song was digitally re-worked for the release of Greatest Flix III. It's a live performance showing Freddie and Bowie performing on stage. However Freddie and Bowie never sang this song live. :-)

They basically took footage of Freddie performing Under Pressure from the '86 concert at Wembley and Bowie's performance of the song at the '92 Tribute concert and merged it. Good Stuff.

great song...it can pretty much mean watever u want.....u know...just apply it to ur own situation ....we all got pressure in our lives. There are some key lines that suggest that that this song is preaching the "ignorance is bliss" theory. "its the terror of knowing what this world is about" "turned away from it all like a blind man" ect. ect. that kind of .....knowing to much for ur own good, the smart are always troubled by the world. Vanilla Ice is also called "bi polar" now.....ice SUCKS....whenever under pressure comes on the radio or i play it.....all the people in the room always go "Vanilla ice sucks" then i have to correct them and they feel stupid

I love this song, I once played it for a bunch of friends and they all go "Vanilla Ice!" Ummm... not really. This song is much cooler than "Ice Ice Baby" even despite the fact they share the same bass part.

I actually stumbled across the Vanilla Ice "Behind the Music" one day (it was like a train wreck, I couldn't look away even though I wanted to) and he actually put an extra bass beat in so he wouldn't get in trouble for copyright violation or whatever... so anyone who complains when they think you're listening to Vanilla Ice, you can tell them it's NOT quite the same with a clear conscience. :) (makes ME feel better, anyway!)

I'm pretty sure this song is referring to the pressure of love. It's about how nobody is immune to the pain love can cause; the world is about love and sometimes relationships can be very hurtful

"It's the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming "Let me out!""

He sees all the pain associated with love, and his own love is "slashed and torn," so he tries to turn "Away from it all like a blind man".

But at the end, he realizes you can't turn your back on love, despite the pain. You have to love people and care for them even if you've been hurt; you have to give love one more chance.

Yeah, Vanilla ice is an ass for stealing this song. How could you POSSIBLY transform such a politically-aware song such as this to a STUPID song about Ice being back on a brand new mission, or whatever he says.

This is a great song. Best line? "Love's such an old fashioned word."

Queen didn't sue Vanilla Ice, but Hollywood records did, since they had just spent millions buying out Queen's catalogue and didn't want V.I. getting any royalties on the song.

Yeah I really hate how Vanilla Ice copied the bass line. I hate most how he knew he was using it and was lazy about it. He could have came up with his own riff. What's his song about anyway? I've never bothered listening to the whole thing.

This is the song that got me into David Bowie and the best thing Queen did since Jazz.
I love it.

What's with that "You say New York... New York is dangerous" bit at the beginning of the David Bowie version?

This song is freakin' awesome. I love Queen, and adding David Bowie, who I also love makes this song good to a point that one can't imagine. And I deffinately hate V.I. for taking the bass from this song. He should be thrown in a pit of zombies.

i heard that the used and my chemical romance covered this song together, which i think sucks, because they aren't that good musicians in my opinion, and this was already done by the blood brothers. what's the point? the blood brothers already did this song way better than anyone could cover it.

has anyone heard the mcr/used version?

To jayness,
Yeah My Chemical Romance and The Used did cover this song, and you can watch it live where they performed it at MTV's $2 Bill Show here.

I think they did an awesome job with it...but that is just my opinion:)
