Open up your mind and let me step inside
Rest your weary head and let your heart decide
It's so easy when you know the rules
It's so easy all you have to do
Is fall in love
Play the game
Everybody play the game of love
Ooh yeah

When you're feeling down and your resistance is low
Light another cigarette and let yourself go
This is your life
Don't play hard to get
It's a free world
All you have to do is fall in love
Play the game - yeah
Everybody play the game of love
Ooh yeah

My game of love has just begun
Love runs from my head down to my toes
My love is pumping through my veins
Play the game
Driving me insane
Come come come come come play the game
Play the game play the game play the game

Play the game
Everybody play the game of love
This is your life - don't play hard to get
It's a free free world
All you have to do is fall in love
Play the game
Yeah play the game of love
Your life - don't play hard to get
It's a free free world
All you have to do is fall in love
Play the game yeah everybody play the game of love

General Comment:Life's a game it can be scary to take life too seriously. He wants to take the easy way.. Although he'd like to know the "rules" because he doesn't trust that he can get by without knowing whta guidelines he should follow.

And so it's started to turn into this situation where he feels like people are going to take advantage of him. And so now he's turning that on other people. And he wants other people to be free cos he's not. He just needs love and then he'll be free. It's not really love he needs. It's balls. But you know what love does to some boys.

General Comment:This is my absolute favorite Queen song and that's a tough decision. "Open up your mind and let me step inside" best line in the whole song. The lyrics are quite simple. Easy listening. :) Freddie was a genius.

General Comment:This could be considered the first song Queen used Synthesizers on since it is the first song on "The Game". Personally I wish they would have stuck to their boast of not using any Synthesizers. Anyone know why they decided to start using them?

General Comment:To me, this song is about falling in love. I don't think it's conformity, the game is just being in love. 'It's so easy when you know the rules/It's so easy, all you have to do is fall in love.' He's just saying that you can't be sad, or sit on the bench. You have to play the game.

General Comment:I always think the bit: 'When you're feelin down and your resistance is low/Light another cigarrette and let yourself go' is supposed to be kind of ironic because this sounds like sitting sround doing nothing whilst the next line is saying 'DON'T play hard to get'
This is an all-time favourite of mine- I can't help singing it all the time!

General Comment:This song is about opening up and falling in love while you have the chance. It is about enjoying life and moving on if one relationship doesn't work out. Don't waste time worrying about what happened before and look for new love. It is a beautiful song that I was lucky enought to see Freddie perform in 1980 when Queen opened the new coliseum in Charleston West Virginia. This was the opener and it equally astounding live. Freddie is the best.
