Lyrics for Who Wants To Live Forever as interpreted by Novartza

Who Wants To Live Forever Lyrics
There's no time for us
There's no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away
from us
Who wants to live forever? (twice)

There's no chance for us
It's all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever? (twice)
Who dares to love forever
When love must die?

But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is ours today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever
Forever is ours today
Who waits forever anyway?

Italian Phaethon

Brian May wrote this song(who is still alive and not suffering from HIV). He wrote it after watching a rough cut of the highlander, he was drawn in by the love story that was the undercurrent for the main plot of the movie "Why love when i am doomed to eternity when she isn't." This is seen in "Lord of the Rings" as well with the love between Arawen and Aragorn. The Romeo and Juliet theme plays out to a point but its more of a "doomed by predestination" (one being mortal, the other immortal)rather than a "Socially Starcrossed" situation as in the Greek Myth that Romeo and Juliet is based upon.

It cant be about freddie's AIDS brcause like Italian Phaethon said, Brian May wrote the song, so its exceptionally unlikely its about AIDS or HIV

People, please stop relating everything to AIDS and sexuality and what-not just because you can. As said, it's pretty unlikely that Brian May would write a song about AIDS. And also, it was written for a tv-series, ever occured that it might also be "strongly modified to fit the series"?

Brian may also sings this song, he sings the first stanza.

his voice is pretty cool, but unfortunately would never be good enough as Freddie mercury's which is why Queen ceased to be. but brian may pretty much beats Eddie Van Halen in guitar ability.

This is such a beautiful song. I think it's about desperation and giving up when you lose someone. Very sad, but ya can't stop listening to it.

This is not about AIDS or sexuality, its all about love.

"There's no time for us
There's no place for us"
Mathew 8:20
"The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of a man hath not where to lay his head"

For me, this songs tells about sense of loving in our relative short live. Love exists beyond time, for lovers every second can be eternity, so they dont need to look for everlasting live. They trust each other so they dont need to worry about time flow. World has only one sweet moment set aside for them, but their love could make this moment eternal, "forever is their today". Who wants to live forever then? And where is forever anyway? This is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard.

This song is simply about life.

No one can live forever, but what happens if we could, woul we want to? If our families couldn't live forever would we just want to go on alone?

It was just written about a character in a film.
Of course, any good song has elements from a person's own life in it. Brian must have had something in mind from his own life when he wrote this, but it's obviously NOT about AIDS.
Not everything is about AIDS.

OMG!! It pisses me off when people say "Oo, Queen song - must be about being gay or AIDS." Or "Oo, Beatles song - must be about drugs." Just because Freddie had AIDS and was gay (or at least bi) doesn't mean every Queen song is about that!

On a more relevant note, I agree with the Romeo & Juliet thing. It makes a lot of since.

erasmus11290 is so very right, not every Queen song is about AIDS!! Brian May did write this, and it's almost impossible that it's about AIDS because (if you look at the facts) Freddie probably got AIDS in 1986, and even after he was diagnosed he didn't tell the band untill a few months before he died. I believe Italian Phaethon is right about why Brian wrote this song, I think I read that somewhere...

I got most of my facts from a book I read on Freddie, so if the book was all bull, I'm really sorry...

The line "And we can have forever" is so amazing. The video is so beautiful, too (even the little joke of Brian in with the strings section). ...But yeah, it's pretty clear it's about Highlander, what with the theme of immortality and time slipping away, etc..

this song talks about how love is so short compared to life. In Highlander how living forever means nothing if you don't have love. who wants to live forever and have no love, no person to enjoy it with..there is no point to life. it sounds a bit fatalistic but i think i can relate with how being in love is important now because like life (mortal life) the time is now. i cried the first time i heard this song....if anyone redoes the song now, i think Ville Valo (HIM) has the range to hit the notes that the lead singer of breaking benjamin couldn't.

This song is from Highlander...
Highlander is about a person who cannot die (until he gets is head chopped off ). He has to watch his wife die of old age - yet he still looks young as he did when he first met her many years before. Its all about how short a time you have with other people that you love when you get to live forever - and whats the point if you live forever but they can't, so why would you want to?

The video for this is cool. There's like, a million candles, and it has brian may in the orchestra pretending to be this stuck-up musician, and there are about 20 children sing ing...

The guitar solo is the highlight of this song for me. It's simple, amazing, and beautiful

Perhaps it has a Romio/Juliet resemblence, however it really reflects on the cost most homosexuals were paying during that time in the absence of treatment for aids. "There's no time for us" was referring to the fact that many males were loosing both their love and life from HIV. "It's all been decided for us" is reffering to society's turn coat mentality regarding homosexuality...menaing the verdict is in, my life is limited because I chose to love as it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all...and besides who really wants to live forever?

This song comforts me when I think of everyone who has passed away that I cared about. It somehow makes it easier... I don't know how to explain it other than that.

people, people, I hate seeing most freddy songs summed up through his aids illness. Any one who has read anything about this illness knows he hid it till 3 days before he succomed to it, so it makes no sence to wirite a bloody song illustrating it.

This song was written in a car from the preview of Highlander, and the basioc premise of the song, is only.... Whats the point living forever (like most of us have wished) if love must die...ie your imortallity will see you saying goodbye to all things you love. and will love..........Suicide is rediculus (like my spelling) as it doesnt fit.
So it really is as simple as that.

A chilling and beautiful song about the inevitability of death. The orchestra along with Freddie's powerful vocals is another milestone in music courtesy of Queen.
