Lyrics for Killer Queen as interpreted by Novartza

Killer Queen Lyrics
She keeps Moet et Chandon, in her pretty cabinet
Let them eat cake she says, just like Marie Antoinette
A built in remedy, for Khrushchev and Kennedy
At anytime an invitation, you can't decline

Caviar and cigarettes
Well versed in etiquette
Extraordinarily nice

She's a Killer Queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime, ooh
Recommended at the price
Insatiable an appetite
Wanna try?

To avoid complications
She never kept the same address
In conversation, she spoke just like a baroness
Met a man from China, went down to Geisha Minah
Then again incidentally, if you're that way inclined

Perfume came naturally from Paris
For cars she couldn't care less
Fastidious and precise

She's a Killer Queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime

Drop of a hat she's a willing as
Playful as a pussy cat
Then momentarily out of action
Temporarily out of gas
To absolutely drive you wild, wild..
She's all out to get you

She's a Killer Queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime, ooh
Recommended at the price
Insatiable an appetite
Wanna try?
You wanna try

With refrences like "remedy, for Khrushchev and Kennedy" and "To avoid complications
She never kept the same address" I always saw the song as being about a Femme fatale. Even the chorus would suggest an assasins tools

Ok so I've just read almost all of the comments and I had to stop and put my to since in it. Believe it or not Freddie had written this song about his first boyfriend. From a you tube video of “Freddie Mercury The Untold Story” they talk about how his first boyfriend kept Moet et Chandon which is wine from France, and he kept it in a cabinet that Freddie defined as pretty. The part where he says about Marie Antoinette,(who was the Queen of France in the late 1700’s) defined his hair stile the same as hers. Through out the song Freddie is telling how great this guy is. When he says “She‘s a killer Queen” he saying this guy is the bomb, he will blow your mind away. When he says “Recommended at the price, Insatiable and appetite, Wanna try? You wanna try?”. in away he’s telling other gay men if we don’t stay together for some reason I highly recommend him.

In the words of the lead singer, Freddie Mercury, "It's about a high class call girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores as well. That's what the song is about, though I'd prefer people to put their interpretation upon it – to read into it what they like."

So until just now reading the other comments I actually never thought of this song as about a prostitute, but I suppose now that I hear that and reread it, that does make sense. But BEFORE I found that out like when I used to listen to this song with my Dad I always thought I would like to be a girl like the one in the song! I realize that sounds bad now! But let me explain!
She’s like this rich girl who drinks expensive wine, has amazing parties with famous people, and money to spare!
“Caviar and cigarettes!” They sound so high class and elegant in this song. I can see this gorgeous girl who everyone falls in love with because even though she’s rich she’s also “extraordinarily nice”.
“Gunpowder-dynamite” Just sounded like she was a hot chick!
Rereading the “guaranteed to blow your mind” part definitely makes me think otherwise now…..
To avoid complications she never kept the same address” Always sounded kind of cool to me like she was just Free! Free to go wherever she wanted whenever she wanted! No need to stay in one place, nothing and no one to hold her down! That was the main reason I wanted to be Miss Killer Queen!
“Playful as a pussycat - she’ll drive you wild!” She’s hot and fun and playful, like just what ever guy wants but she’ll drive you wild because she’s so unobtainable!
…… I’ll still think of it this way because I don’t wanna think that I wanted to be a prostitute when I was 14! Ha-ha!

In my opinion, the song is about a high class prostitute who's met by "customers" pretending they are on a busneiss trip "Met a man from China, went down to Geisha Minah
Then again incidentally, if you're that way inclined".

She is compared to Marie Antoinette as she has rich luxuries.
She also has drugs and pills - "Temporarily out of gas" - to get help her customers feel more sexually put on - "To absolutely drive you wild, wild..".

Well before I discovered that Mercury originally wrote it about a classy whore, I had my own interpretation of it.

I thought it was about this beautiful, intelligent, glamorous lady that the Queen boys were basically all over, but their was something absolutely odd about her - she drove them crazy. Yes, they really had to get to the bottom of that.

And so Killer Queen is devised.

The whole Kennedy thing may be a reference to Marilyn Monroe. That kinda girl.

obviously, as aforementioned, it's about a high class prostitute (transvestite maybe, but maybe not.)

"A built in remedy, for Khrushchev and Kennedy
At anytime an invitation, you can't decline"
--She has very high paying clients, obviously..

"Met a man from China, went down to Geisha Minah
Then again incidentally, if you're that way inclined"
--Possibly this is her meeting place, client.
Or maybe (if tranny) she got a sex change from the Asians..

"For cars she couldn't care less"
--Does the deed in cars, obviously.

That's all the bits I'm going to analyze. :)

I agree with everyone about the high price call girl. But just for arguments sake what if it were something deeper, with the Kennedy and Krushcev reference, and the mention of weapons could it just for the sake of argument be about war? Love Queen! Wish that there were bands like this these days!

I have to say, the only thing I dislike about Queen is the fact that Freddy was a homosexual. But other than that, this band is kick ass, love their music.

wow. what. the. fuck. i have to say, the only thing i dislike about your comment is that you're a shallow asshole. just because freddie was gay, doesn't mean he wasn't a genius. his orientation didn't stop queen from becoming one of the best bands of all time, did it? but whatever, you're probably right anyway. because i'm so sure that since you're straight, that makes you such a good person, and an even better songwriter.

i love this song. i'm thinking it's a mockery of high class and false prestige, or maybe just about a prostitute.

And the thing is, she's a clever one, too, because she disguises it with her high class and tries to seduce people with charm and wealth.

what i get from this killer queen is not a transvestite though, prostitute maybe, but clearly not a woman who would bow down to a man. Instead, she makes all men bow down to her, respect her and maybe scared of her.

Her first priority is, of course herself. She keeps her Moet et Chandon for herself, while people keep best champagne for important people (in business, goverment, etc). She is ignorant (Marie Antoinette said "let them eat cake" as the answer of the protests from the masses about the very scarily expensive bread price, noone can eat because of that). As a woman, she is unbelievable, she is irresistible, yet not vulgar because she is elegant, she has high class taste and seems very smart, confident and well educated. she has all the power; "Gunpowder, gelatine, dynamite with a laser beam" and she clearly can protect herself, thats why she doesnt need a man, instead men crave a woman like her.

The song is definitely about a high class hooker - FM said so himself. Now about the gay/tranny thing, that is open for interpretation. I don't think every song Queen ever did is secretly about homosexuality and AIDS.

To the person who said,

'She keeps her emotion in her pretty cabinet.'

It's actually Moet et Chandon, not emotion.

Here's a quote from Freddy Mercury

"People are used to hard rock, energy music from Queen, yet with this single you almost expect Noel Coward to sing it. It's one of those bowler hat, black suspender belt numbers not that Coward would wear that. (...) It's about a high class call girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores as well. That's what the song is about, though I'd prefer people to put their interpretation upon it to read into it what they like."

I think its about women who find rich guys and get all their money and kill them. "gunpowder, gelatine" She poisions them and uses there money to buys stuff eventually it all becomes meaning less. When that happens She just goes and finds her new target.
