Lyrics for Crazy Little Thing Called Love as interpreted by Novartza

Crazy Little Thing Called Love Lyrics
This thing called love I just can't handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love

This thing (this thing) called love (called love)
It cries (like a baby) in a cradle all night
It swings (woo woo) it jives (woo woo)
It shakes all over like a jellyfish
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love

There goes my baby
She knows how to rock n roll
She drives me crazy
She gives me hot and cold fever
Then she leaves me in a cool cool sweat
I gotta be cool, relax, get hip
Get on my track's
Take a back seat, hitch-hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until I'm ready
Crazy little thing called love

I gotta be cool, relax, get hip
Get on my track's
Take a back seat, hitch-hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until I'm ready (Ready Freddie)
Crazy little thing called love

This thing called love I just can't handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love (9 times)

They do kind of sound like Elvis, don't they? Funny for a British band. Freddie wrote it in the bathtub while in Paris, I read in the notes to "The Game" CD... go figure...

I agree this is pretty much an Elvis schtick...almost better in conception and execution than Elvis himself! To me part of the charm is that it takes that "forbidden" aspect of Elvis--remember that a lot of middle America saw him as a kind of threat to the purity of their youth--and ups the ante a bit. Elvis played it cool enough to get airplay (for the time) but hot enough to be a "naughty" youth market pleasure. Mercury gets more graphic. I didn't listen to Queen extensively, but enough to realize that they could and would often capture the feel of earlier musical genres, bouncing it off the lyric to create an effect. This is a great example of that at work.

I was told it was an Elvis cover. Love the song, though.

It wasn't written in a bath or a hottub. However the inspiration came whilst visiting a SPA in Germany. And it surely read "he drives me crazy" not she, when FM originally penned it.

Call me crazy, but us heterofreaks don't want to hear about manlove...

This song was written in 1979, TWO YEARS AFTER
Elvis had died. So get your facts straight, please...

I heard that it was written in the bath at a hotel in Munich, Germany...oh well. Then the video was very Elvis-like too. It's funny that people mistaked it for an Elvis song :D

I always thought the original lyrics were with "she." But then again, in the video, he dances with both men and women, as though to say, "Well, I'm not saying what my sexuality is! MAYBE I'm straight, and MAYBE I'm gay." Though the women were more touchy with him, but homosexuality wasn't as accepted then. But whatever...if straight people can go on about their love, then gay people can too.

As for the meaning of the song...it doesn't sound like a gay anthem or really deep or anything like that. It sounds like Freddie just wanted to do an Elvis impression and say that love is a difficult and confusing thing.

I heard he worte the song because he was a Fan Elvis and wanted to pay tribute to him by writing a song like this. I guess because he would have been a song that Elvis would have sang.

He was a fan of Elvis.

If you think this is Elvis, listen to Freddie on 'Man On The Prowl' from the works... even more Elvis!

I know this isn't Queen related, but I was just wondering...did Elvis ever write any of the songs he sang?

Elvis never wrote a word......the most over'rated "artist" in the history of music.

Now on to ART.
This song is captured live on Saturday Night live. This version has May playing an amazing lead. Damn shame Queen insisted on having Freddie always out in front instead of more of Brian's lead work.
