Lyrics for Don't Look Back in Anger as interpreted by dsfire

Don't Look Back in Anger Lyrics
Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
A better place to play
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen
Slowly fade away

So I start a revolution from my bed
'cause you said the brains I have went to my head
Step outside 'cause summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off you face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

And so Sally can wait
She knows it's too late
As we're walking on by
Her soul slides away
But don't look back in anger
I heard you say

Take me to the place where you go
Where nobody knows
If it's night or day
Please don't put your life in the hands
Of a rock and roll band
Who'll throw it all away

I'm gonna start a revolution from my bed
'cause you said the brains I have went to my head
Step outside 'cause summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off you face
'cause you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

So Sally can wait
She knows it's too late
As she's walking on by
My soul slides away
But don't look back in anger
Don't look back in anger
I heard you say
At least not today

'stand up beside the fire-place
and take that look from off your face'
is a reference to his mother taking photos when they were younger. Noel hated taking the pictures but his mother made him stand for them.
I think the song in general is about him tellin his mother not to look back in anher about leavin his father.
Apparently, when they left their dad, they took everything from the house, carpets, sinks, light bulbs, everything.
Its a brillant song!

just a little message to matt2710 just for your information (Whats The Story) Morning Glory is the follow up to Oasis's first album and not their first album! In fact their first album is in my opinion far superior! Definately Maybe all the way! Oasis best rock and roll act of this generation? definately! no maybes.

I agree with Junkhead. The piano intro to the song is very similar to that of John Lennon's Imagine. The phrase, "So I start a revolution from my bed" refers to the Give Peace a chance thing that he and Yoko Ono did.

Maybe the whole songs about him. Perhaps the "Rock and Roll Band" is the Beatles......??/???

This song is about dropping emotional baggage and starting over in a mansion full of beautiful women in ridiculous costumes. Or maybe it isn't, but you can imagine someone using this song for the closing scenes of a movie or something.

i've always interpreted the song as a combination of some of the above comments. the singer is in a rock band and his relationship with his girlfriend comes to the point where it's either the band or her. "Please don't put your life in the hands of a rock and roll band who'll throw it all away." is his girlfriend asking him. he decides to go with the band and not look back and wonder what could have been. For some reason I've always pictured the line "She knows it's too late as were's walkin on by" as the band walking past the girl backstage and going onto the stage.

wrion ya cunt now ive got that image with me forever ! lol, by the way, this song is fucking awesome live and on album, the line
"Stand up beside the fire place, take that look from of your face"
is amazing, when he almost shouts
"take that look from off your face"
i had the two albums at the time, but that line is probably one of the reasons why i from then on held them as my fav band of all time.

Fuck ya! dave 1987, your awesome! That line is so great! and I don't even know why. It just rings so well with music and the way he sings it. Alot of Oasis songs don't really have a deep meaning. Come on now! They are just some lads from Manchester. I doubt they give two shits about deep meanings in songs. Usually Noel is playing with words.

i think the "So i start a revolutin form my bed" means that he, as a rock artist, compose some songs or do what lennon did.
the next part is even better "cause you said the brains i had went to my head" that means that he left that life of dull stuff.

i like this song too much cause its just amazing to hear it

I think start a revolution from my bed is a reference to John and Yoko's "Bed in for Peace". Forgiving the rip from Imagine, this song is fabulous and gives mad props to Lennon, and showcases fine lyrics.

The real Meaning From Noel's Voice was that the girl of the life was confussed Passing a long time with a "good n nice" boy that only is a dream or whim and he can wait for her without be influenced for anyone like a rock n roll band....

Noel Gallagher wrote the line, "Stand up beside the fireplace, take that look from off your face" because when he was a kid, his mother used to make him stand next to the fireplace and have photos taken. He always looked grumpy in these photos, so she told him to take that look from off his face.

I think there is a strong reference to childhood in this song.
"stand up beside the fireplace, take that look from off your face" sounds like children getting ready for a family photograph to be taken. It is yet another reference to family, a theme that pops up in many oasis lyrics. This song defines the 90s for me.

This song almost seems to self righteously say, 'We all knew what we were getting into so none of us are allowed to have regrets.'

Have you ever seen the movie Almost Famous? The lyrics remind me of the 'relationships' that the die hard groupies formed with the band members.
When they were together, they partied...I mean they absolutely had a blast. They even played with the idea of loving one another within the moment...no matter how unrealistic.

The lesson was that no one is immune to emotion. You can't play that way and not expect to get burned. Somebody will hurt. But Noel, seemingly hardened by his carnal desires (no pun intended), says "'Cause you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out ". In other words, not me...at least not this time.

Noel refers to his mother and John Lennon - "So I start a revolution from my bed
'Cause you said the brains I have went to my head
Step outside 'cause summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off you face"

Amazing song!

All I know is this song was written about memoirs that John Lennon wrote... which was found 7 or so years after his death.
