Lyrics for Don't Look Back in Anger as interpreted by dsfire

Don't Look Back in Anger Lyrics
Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
A better place to play
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen
Slowly fade away

So I start a revolution from my bed
'cause you said the brains I have went to my head
Step outside 'cause summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off you face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

And so Sally can wait
She knows it's too late
As we're walking on by
Her soul slides away
But don't look back in anger
I heard you say

Take me to the place where you go
Where nobody knows
If it's night or day
Please don't put your life in the hands
Of a rock and roll band
Who'll throw it all away

I'm gonna start a revolution from my bed
'cause you said the brains I have went to my head
Step outside 'cause summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off you face
'cause you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

So Sally can wait
She knows it's too late
As she's walking on by
My soul slides away
But don't look back in anger
Don't look back in anger
I heard you say
At least not today

I think this song is about lookin back at your past and seeing the mistakes you've made by taking the wrong options, it tells you not to dwell on the past and to get on with your future and this time get it right!!!

I think this a song he maybe wrote when he and his girlfriend are breaking so he can pursue the band, "soul slides away" can you imagine that pain? Yes, so, he says, dont come with-its not dependable, you know I dont know what Im doing, but we had a good time right? Yes, thats' pretty accurate.

This song confused me for a long time, but I think I get it now. I like how, in a bootleg that I have, Noel changes "summertime's in bloom" to "summer went too soon"

I used to roadie for them and I can tell you this was just a p*** take by Noel. Liam was acting up one session and decided to do one. anyway as he left Noel muttered something and as Liam turned to answer back he walked into the door. Noel thought it was so funny he wrote this song.

Who really cares what this song means? I'm almost certain that Oasis doens't even know what this song means. If they stopped blowing lines and eachother long enough to read what they wrote down, I'm sure they would have a better idea.

This song always brings tears to my eyes. Everyone interprets songs in diffrent ways. I am currently involved with a guy who is a guitarist in a rock and roll band. The line "please don't put your life in the hands of a rock and roll band, who'll throw it all away" really gets to me. We have come to a point in our relationship where we need to decide what to do...split or tough out never seeing eachother. Practice 6 days a week. I put my life and my heart and soul into the band and those selfish bastards took my life for a ride and screwed me up the ass. Trust me.....don't trust a rock and roll musician with your life.

This song is sad. It's about someone liking someone so much but them never giving them a chance so they have to move on and now that person that they liked is only second best. It's about growing up and apart and my friend told me it reminded him of me.

I just like the line
''Cause you said the brains I have went to my head'
It's a pretty clever line.

What's with the riff at the start though? Sure immitation is flattery, but that's just blatently ripping off Imagine.

i've been in love with oasis since definitely maybe, but this song will always be my favorite.

i've spent much time listening to it just trying to be able to start to comprehend what it means, and the message is so clear that it baffles me as to why it took me so long to completely understand.

"don't look back in anger" "all the things that you've seen/slowly fade away"
forget the past and live in the now, because the past simply isn't worth it.

i can talk about how this song makes me cry, or how it turned me into the biggest oasis fan ever, but i'd be lying. "take that look from off yr face, cause you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out"

"Don't look back in anger..." let it go, don't let the anger taint the person you've become just because of the past.

I like how jossquartz put it.

"forget the past and live in the now, because the past simply isn't worth it."

Good song.

None of us can escape the past though, a lot of Noels songs are almost like there trying to convince himself to forget the past.

isn't it ironic how a song about looking forward and not back is one of the most likely to incur britrock nostalgia in years to come?

I like this line, "Take that look from off you face because you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out." And I like to think that the chorus might be talking about someone who left you, that it's too late to make it right so she walks away. But it tells you not to look back in anger at it, but in happiness, because it happened. "Her soul slides away," she walks out of your life and she's gone, her soul slid out of your life.

But that's just what the song means to me. I'm sure it's not the original meaning that Oasis had in mind, or maybe it is. Who knows. GREAT song. One of my favorite songs of all-time.

Liam&Noel say...Don't Look Back in Anger- "I went up to The Manor when Paul Weller was recording Stanley Road and that's when I did my bit on Walking On Guilded Splinters. He played me his song, Wings Of Speed, and that was the feel I tried to get on Don't Look Back In Anger. I did it live for the first time at Sheffield Arena. Should people put their lives in the hands of a rock n' roll band? If it's us then, yeah, I think they can. Some of the lines come from John Lennon. I got this tape in America that had apparently been burgled from the Dakota Hotel and someone had found these cassettes. Lennon was starting to record his memoirs on tape. He´s going on about `trying to start a revolution from me bed, because they said the brains I had went to my head.´ Thank you, I'll take that. It's about not being upset about the things you might have said or done yesterday. It's about looking forward rather than looking back. I hate people who look back on the past or talk about what might have been."
