    My Interpretation:This is a sad love song. I don't think it has anything to do with sex or drugs. Dosed is just a reference to a girl giving him a small dose of her...her love, her affection, her attention, but then pulling away. Either because she is guarded, has another object of her affection and she doesn't want to hurt this guy, or she has trust/closeness issues. However, this dose gives him an extremely euphoric feeling, like a drug. When he says "all I ever wanted was your life", he means that all he wants is for her to make a life with him, but for some reason she will never let it happen. When he says, "take it away I never had it anyway, he is referring to her love....when she pulls away after showing him attention or affection.

    General Comment:I love this song since the moment I heard her on the radio back that year when I was in 7th gray I think it was springtime...This song ascociated me with spring really it has a fine lovely gentle melody that heels and embraces with love and affection,to me.
    I don't know what the poet tried to say,but I like to feel it and define it this way as a romantic love song.
    In my imagination when I listen to it I sea the great ocean.sea shores and mermaids....It's very lovely and honest from the heart I hope that this will get to others as well as it gets to me-with an emotion,you just have to hear it.

    Song Meaning:This song, like most Chili Peppers songs, is about sex. I don't really know why everyone thinks it is about drugs, and the love interpretation is a little sketchy too, except inasmuch as sex and love are related.
    Individual lines:
    In you a star is born -- references orgasm
    you cut a perfect form -- wow, you're hot
    way upon the mountain where she died -- mountain refers to the mons pubis (look it up if you don't know). Orgasm is sometimes referred to as "the little death".
    Deep inside the canyon I can't hide -- if the general trend isn't making sense by now, the canyon reference may be lost on you.
    Suffice it to say that the seahorse line and the ride line are also thinly vailed innuendo.

    General Comment:I don't know why people always try to complicate everything... I took it as he was talking about a non-reciprocal love but I think as other's said here that it can be interpreted two ways, the one I said or about drug addiction.

    General Comment:I think that this song is about drugs and it talk about a died of a girl. I think he used the "dosed" word to describe the nature of his feelings towards about the person he`s singing to. its a beautifull song.
