Who's to say, he's not the gifted one
Well I forgot, he's not the teachers son
No he's just the reason for her to say
That she needs a substance in her today

Well who's to say he's not going to see the sun
Well I forgot he's not the gifted one
No he's just a, another version of his dad
He'll learn to love things that he never

All he ever does is walk alone
Man he can only walk so far before
All he ever does is look inside
He don't need nowhere to hide

I know she is all that he ever loved at 17
Too bad to her he was a passing thing only temporary,
Until she finds someone with everything
Cause she's what we might call a sugar-queen
See her whole scene consists of diamond rings
But that's okay, probably better anyway
Cause now that he's free she might finally see that

All he ever does is walk alone
Man he can only walk so far before
All he ever does is look inside
He don't need nowhere to hide

General Comment:pomegranatesrock... i have that version of the song too.

he attempts a solo at the end, and messes up a little bit.. so, he says, "::sniff::, kinda funked that one up."

i agree that it's about him looking to the inside, and not necessarily his inside, but the inside of some group or something of the sort.

my verion is called walk alone too.

General Comment:I think that "looking inside" and not needing a place to hide is about being so introverted that they just hide inside themselves instead of finding another outlet. i can relate. where is this song from? is this an old one from sept. sessions or another surf video? its not on any of my cds.

General Comment:this is a wicked song. i think anyone who's been with a girl from a upper class "tight" family, like myself, can relate. to me this song sums up the last year of my life, with the going off to university thing and all. I still dunno whats with the title here tho...my version is called "Walk Alone". great tune...

General Comment:ohhh this is so good. does anyone know what G.A.T.E. stands for? and the part about looking inside and needing nowhere to hide...i think he's saying that this guy is kinda always ignored and just looking at people like he's on the outside (so he's looking inside) and since he's ignored and practically invisible there's no need for him to hide ('cause he's already kinda "hidden").
