Lyrics for Satellites as interpreted by MDMaster

Satellites Lyrics
I want you to know this
My anger's all but done
Sweet Lord
I swear I've seen the darkness
Sweet Lord
I swear I've seen some pain

Satellites ahead
So hold on
Satellites I said
So come on

Here comes a strange cargo
Here comes a light that leaves out of here
Sweet Lord
All I've known is badness
Sweet Lord
All I've known is pain

Satellites ahead
So hold on
Satellites I said
So come on
For seven nights I slept
Hold on
The satellites ahead
So come on

I want you to notice
My anger's all but done
And all I've known is madness

Satellites ahead
So hold on
For seven nights I slept
So come on

So hold on
So come on
So hold on
So come on

Great song. Note the reference to 'darkness', which was a song off of the prior album. I think this song signifies a final breakthrough out of the guy's depression and his turning to look to the future.

This is one of my favorite songs of all times. I believe this song is a reference to a man begging for an end to the pain that has built up in his life. He desires to have a positive outlook on life and rebuild himself.

The band are called "Doves" not "The Doves", but anyway this song was dedicated to Marc Vivien Foe who passed away whilst playing international football. He was also playing for Man City who Doves support.

This is such a beautiful song. I don't really favour religious content but this has to be the best song with religious content ever.
It's good for putting you in the mood for RE assignments.

Nice song about coming out of the negative things that surrounded you (e.g pain holding you down, or depression), and seeing that you only see good things now are coming to your life because you started to think that. Remember thoughts become things.
Nice songgggggggggggg.....Doves Rock! I've seen them live back in those days for EUR 8.- when they released lost souls, and not that known in Europe. I told my friend, wait and see, these guys are going to be huge!

I might have got this one totally wrong but I have a theory. Satellites is reference to the Philip K Dick novels VALIS and Radio Free Albemuth. These novels although presented as fiction are said to have represented Dick's actual philosophical beliefs. The idea is that God can communicate with us through satellites. Light is beamed from the satellite directly into us containing important theological information. Hence the reference to religion and light. The protagonist in VALIS suffers with his mental health due to several personal losses, to the point of full blown psychosis. It is only through contact with the satellite and his ongoing quest to find 'the saviour' that he can regain his sanity. The novel is every bit about recovering from madness as it is about religion.

I'm not saying that Doves necessarily share these beliefs, but I honestly think that the song is about loss, madness and wanting to be saved.
