Lyrics for Peace Train as interpreted by Novartza

Peace Train Lyrics
Now I've been happy lately
Thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun
I've been smiling lately
Dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be
Something good's bound to come

For out on the edge of darkness
There runs the peace train
Peace train take this country
Come take me home again

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train
Peace train's a holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
This is the peace train

Get your bags together
Come bring your good friends too
Because it's getting nearer
Soon it will be with you
Come and join the living
It's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer
Soon it will all be true

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train

I've been crying lately
Thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating?
Why can't we live in bliss?

For out on the edge of darkness
There rides the peace train
Peace train take this country
Come take me home again

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah
Come on the peace train

Come on, come on, come on the peace train...

He wrote it while he was on a train, he was thinking of Alfred Hitchcock at the time...

This song speaks to me of faith and hope. Good things are coming...in fact they are already here for those with eyes to see...it is on the edge of darkness right now but it is real and it is coming and it is good. We can look at the world as it is now but our hope is not in what we see but in what we don't see...the eternal.

"Peace Train is a song I wrote, the message of which continues to breeze thunderously through the hearts of millions. There is a powerful need for people to feel that gust of hope rise up again. As a member of humanity and as a Muslim, this is my contribution to the call for a peaceful solution."

Is alty6905 nuts? How can your blood boil from a pacivistic song? That is irony.

haha unipsycho, he did say that. i guess it the song has double meaning for me then, boning good friends and such. but then also having that side of the song where he's been crying lately, however, the peace train will never come. not with the people who are leading this country, and others.

To me, this song is one of hope, and although Cat isn't in my generation, he remains one of the best artists of all time. I think that the war inspired this song, but it applies to life outside of war. It's my "theme song" if you will, reminding me that it could always be worse, and to always try and see the light in the tunnel; that at the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train.

Cat Stevens once said:
"Peace Train - now that was a completely pornographic song, a phallic theme, with the train zipping through the countryside - "boom, boom, boom, y'know, till the climax at the end. I'd have to get a hell of a lotta women in to do that! I couldn't do that top note".

haha that was a funny comment ironjohn7 as i re listened to the song. but i do know cat didnt mean it like that he just wishes for every1 to forget hate and jump aboard the peace train. a place where hate and racism is left and love and sharing is found. im 15 and ive been brought up listening to catstevens by my parents. and i just think hes the best artists out, i love his songs and even after ive heard them millions of times they still set off my water works!

I completely agree with ZeroOne. It's sad that we dont have good music like we did, then - but it's nice to listen to the music of those days. Cat Stevens is a totally rad hippy. If you havent seen Harold&Maude yet, you should definitely do that... He composed the whole soundtrack.

I really love listening to music written during the Vietnam War these days, because it fits in once again with the state of our country and the war in Iraq. That, and its a much calmer anti-war message, unlike ours today.

i wish they played this on radio stations that has a lot of new music on it. all to often you hear music about how much life sucks, but he says about how life does suck but it doesn't have to stay like that.

A great song about hope of peace and unity. If everybody would have such a hopeful outlook on life and got on the peace train, then this would be a very happy world.
