What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

Baby, don't hurt me, don't hurt me
No more
What is love?
Yeah

No, I don't know why you're not there
I give you my love, but you don't care
So what is right and what is wrong?
Gimme a sign

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

Whoa, whoa, oh
Whoa, whoa, oh

Oh, I don't know, what can I do?
What else can I say? It's up to you
I know we're one, just me and you
I can't go on

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

Whoa, whoa, oh
Whoa, whoa, oh

What is love?
What is love?
What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

Don't hurt me
Don't hurt me

I want no other, no other lover
This is our life, our time
If we are together, I need you forever
Is it love?

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more
Yeah, yeah

Whoa, whoa, oh
Whoa, whoa, oh

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more

What is love?
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more (whoa, whoa)

Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more (whoa, whoa)

Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
No more
What is love?

Why does everyone think the guy is doing something wrong? Sometimes that's just the way it works. You can like someone a lot and they might not feel the same way about you. It's not anything you(he) did wrong (it's not that he's not being himself, or being obsessed), but it just works that way sometimes.

    This song is depressing.

    Song Meaning

It’s clear that most people are reading too much into the lyrics, diving deep into the song’s many layers of complex metaphors.

This is unnecessary, because the true meaning is there, in plain sight, for everyone to see.

”Baby, don’t hurt me, no more”

Clearly, this is the moaning of a frustrated parent (Haddaway?) who can no longer stand the antics of their little one.

” I don't know why you're not fair, I give you my love, but you don't care”

The grownup is expressing their dissatisfaction with the fact that they keep on giving, but the toddler isn’t really giving much back.

” I know we're one, just me and you. I can't go on..”

Of course, the parent knows that the baby is his flesh and blood... but why can it not be nicer to him?

” I want no other, no other lover”

The end of the song takes a much darker turn, where the singer gravitates towards highly forbidden thoughts. It surprises me that Haddaway would even insert such lyrics in a commercial song about a toddler, but nobody can say he is not a brave artist.

Wow this is certainly a nostalgic song, remindes me the days when I was in 4th grade and we had disco parties. This was certainly a big hit theese days.

I loved this song way before the movie was ever released. Great tune to dance to... good "story" as far as these types of songs go.

It makes me happy and I do not tire of it. It is played all the way through the "Roxbury" movie and you still enjoy it.They could make a sequel and still use the same song.

Was Haddaway a Geordie? The name would suggest so...

This song reminds me of "A Knight of the RoxBury". Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan were superb as Doug and Steve Butabi. Everytime I hear this song I remember Chris(Doug) breaking the window in the car bumping along to this song.

As bizarre as this sounds, I really truly believe that this song is about an addiction to cocaine. Read the lyrics and imagine a person going crazy and "talking" to cocaine.
