Bach is dead
Bach is dead
Bach is dead
Bach is dead
Walking women want to see
The Southern Cross at night
And so they set aside a sock
And tie their laces tight
Yes mournful is the melody
That echoes in their heads
Without a beat they march along
Believing Bach is dead
Bach is dead

Insinuating optimism. Meaning that there's still good stuff out there, or Bach still holding a legacy through modern music.

General Comment:I like the line "Yes, mournful is the melody That echoes in their heads." I think this song is people's unwillingness to accept new and/or avent garde music.

General Comment:I think that the song is about the elitist group of people who think classical music is the only true music and they only listen to classical music because newer genres are just crap to them and since all good composers are dead they only listen to classical when the truth is all musicians are just like the composers they only listen to and in reality Bach as music is not dead

General Comment:"Without a beat" represents pop music I'd imagine...

But what is "The Southern Cross"?

General Comment:My best guess on the meaning: True music is dead, killed by the death march of brainless, shallow pop. Of course, I am probably a little biased (just a little!).
