Lyrics for Bring Back That Leroy Brown as interpreted by f_mercury

Bring Back That Leroy Brown Lyrics
Bring back bring back bring back that Leroy Brown Yeah!
Bring back bring back gotta ring that Leroy Brown Yeah!

Bet your bottom dollar bill you're a playboy Yeah Yeah!
Daddy cool with a ninety dollar smile (ooh Yeah)
Took my money out of gratitude
And he git right out of town
Well I gotta getty up steady up shoot him down
Gotta hit that latitude babe

Bring back bring back bring back that Leroy Brown Yeah!
Bring back bring back gotta ring that Leroy Brown Yeah!

Big bad Leroy Brown he got no common sense
No no he got no brains but he sure gotta lotta style
Can't stand no more in this here jail
I gotta rid myself of this sentence
Gotta get out of the heat step into the shade
Gotta get me there dead or alive babe

Wooh wooh big bad Leroy
Wooh wooh wooh wooh
Big bad Leroy Brown

Bring back bring back bring back that Leroy Brown Yeah!
Bring back bring back gotta bring back Leroy Brown Yeah!

Big mama Lulu Belle she had a nervous breakdown
She had a nervous breakdown
Leroy's taken her honey chile away
But she met him down at the station Oohoo
Put a shotgun to his head and unless I be mistaken
This is what she said

Big bad big boy big bad Leroy Brown
I'm gonna get that cutie pie
Bring back bring back bring back that Leroy Brown Yeah!
Big bad caused a mighty fine sensation Yeah Yeah!
Gone and got himself elected President
We want Leroy for President

Next time you gotta hit a bitty baddy weather
This time like a shimmy shammy leather
He's a big boy bad boy Leroy
I don't care where you get him from
Bring that big bad Leroy back
Want him back

It is a mock of the song by Jim Croce, "Leroy Brown".

I did not submit the above post. A friend, who is registered as 70's_rocker, posted it while I was away from the computer. I cannot verify the validity of the statement, nor do I claim it as my opinion. To be honest, I don't know who Jim Croce or Leroy Brown are. And I don't particularly care for Queen's music. I apologize for any misunderstandings.

johnny cash dude! i dunno. a few songs besides this have leroy brown in it. aparently hes as folktale. i love this song and the old taste of 20s music. the main reason i love Queen: they flirt with other eras and make it good!

I don't know who he is exactly, but if you look up 'Bad, Bad Leroy Brown' by Frank Sinatra then that might give you some idea.

Jim Croce wrote/sang the famous song "TIme in a Bottle". By chance I walked past someone watching a Jim Croce concert on DVD and he happened to be talking about a certain 'Leroy Brown' - from what I remember, a friend of his, in the army, who was constantly messing around and having a good time. I was surprised to hear him talking about 'Leroy Brown', having been well-acquainted with this Queen song. Therefore that second comment might be valid...would be interesting if someone could give a more concrete explanation.

A fun song where in their amazing fashion, Queen takes you back to the Roaring Twenties and makes it something for the modern world.

There is a song called "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" performed by Jim Croce in about the 60's. I think the song is doing what it says, bringing back what was a pretty big single when it was released. great song! once again queen have nailed it... though when do they not?

the above are the lyrics to the jim croce song. it's good in its own right, really bluesy, and i think that queen does a good job of not only borrowing the character of Leroy, but also of absorbing some of the musical style as well in certain parts.

"Bet your bottom dollar BILL you're a playboy Yeah Yeah!

Sounds like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama...Barack DOES have that million dollar smile and Bill is quite the playboy...and in part two of this song, he says "Brown" "Gone and got himself elected president"...

...just messin'.

It's definitely meant to be a silly song, the ukelele pretty much cements that. Queen definitely seemed to have a thing about gangsters as well; this song, Stone Cold Crazy, another one bites the dust... It's like some sort of childhood thing they keep going back to.
