I'm all out of hope
One more bad dream could bring a fall
When I'm far from home
Don't call me on the phone
To tell me you're alone
It's easy to deceive
It's easy to tease
But hard to get release

[Chorus]
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Eyes without a face
Got no human grace your eyes without a face.

I spend so much time
Believing all the lies
To keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
For loving what was you

[Chorus]

When you hear the music you make a dip
Into someone else's pocket then make a slip.
Steal a car and go to las vegas oh, the gigolo pool.
Hanging out by the state line,
Turning holy water into wine
Drinkin' it down
I'm on a bus on a psychedelic trip
Reading murder books tryin' to stay hip.
I'm thinkin' of you you're out there so
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.
Say your prayers.

Now I close my eyes
And I wonder why
I don't despise
Now all I can do
Is love what was once
So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
I'd better realize

[Chorus]

Such a human waste your eyes without a face
And now it's getting worse.

Song Meaning:Eyes without a face is about The Unknown Comic. You could never see his face because he had it covered by a paper bag and one can still see his eyes.

General Comment:I think this song is about pornography and possibly a prostitute. I think he is likely referring to a camera being the eyes without a face.

My Interpretation:This song sounds like it starts out as a "Please don't hurt me again":
    I'm all out of hope
One more bad dream could bring a fall

Then, we have more emotional pain:
    Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
    For loving what was you

Now, we get MUCH darker as the tempo changes radically in the song, becoming much more upbeat at the point where the narrator starts committing crimes:
When you hear the music you make a dip...

Here, the narrator pickpockets someone, steals a car, gets roaring drink in Vegas, then takes some LSD:

Taking a bus on a psychadelic trip
Reading murder books tryin' to stay hip.
I'm thinkin' of you you're out there so
    Say your prayers.

which is clearly ominous, especially with the musical siren in the background when those words are sung. That siren is only heard at that one spot. That could be the police coming to investigate a brutal murder of the woman.

Then, the tempo changes back to the much slower, wistful tones of the beginning:
    Now all I can do
    Is love what was once
    So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes

To me those indicate quite clearly he went to her house while roaring drunk and/or high on LSD, then he has murdered her, cut out her eyes and is staring wistfully at them, as he holds them in his hand. His final comments imply he is coming out of his drug-induced high and starting to see what he has done.

My Opinion:Talking about suicide at the beginning. Then (Bless your soul sweet child) talking about the innocence in the man. Eyes without a face, only seeing her eyes without the face because it's been a while, but still remembers her eyes as if they've seen each other just yesterday (in my opinion, only because I've felt the same way). Got no human grace, because he's upset how she treated him as she left. Believing her lies that she led on because she didn't want to break his heart, so continued the relationship. Then when the unforgettable, bad ass riff comes along, he realizes he needs to get out and have fun to forget about her, enjoying himself as much as he possibly can. "Thinking of you" and "Say your prayers" because he's pushing himself to the edge... Gets home afterwards and remembers what's happened, but doesn't "feel despise" because he's beginning to get over her and move on. Just love what was once and remember what the good times he enjoyed with her.

I only feel this way as I think about the young woman I lost. Fucking great song...

General Comment:I think it's about falling for someone for their looks and then realizing, too late, that they are cold inside.

    General Comment:People,

eyes without a face = good looks, no personality.

yeah, this song is a bitter song, but I'm surprised with the amount of bullcrap meanings you are giving this song.

General Comment:"The eyes are the window to the soul." "You can't hid your lying eyes."

    When I'm far from home
Don't call me on the phone
    To tell me you're alone
    It's easy to deceive
    It's easy to tease

Because he's far away, he can't see her lying eyes; without that, even though he's sure she's lying, he can't break away from his romantic thoughts.

General Comment:I think he sings about a girl that he is in love with, but she is cheating him.
When he is gone she is telling him that she is alone, and he wants to believe "to keep his dream alive".
Its easy for her "to cheat and to tease", but for him its "hard to release" because he loves her.

    "Eyes without a face"
    - He loves her, (her beautiful Eyes), but she has no personality, she cheats on him, goes only for her own benefits .
"Gigolo pool" "Dip into someones pocket" "she turns holly water into wine and then drinks it"

He realises now who she really is, but still loves her.

But the last part i dont really understand and its said that the song has to end so bad,
but it seems that he gets crazy because of her, and he decides to kill her for what she done to him:

"Reading murder books tryin' to stay hip.
I'm thinkin' of you you're out there so
    Say your prayers.
    Say your prayers."

And the end he says that he doesnt despise for what he done?
And that what he loved and was alive is gone now from here eyes?

I really hope that I am wrong about this ending of that beautiful song, but what else should it mean?

    "Now I close my eyes
    And I wonder why
    I don't despise
    Now all I can do
    Is love what was once
    So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
    I'd better realise"
