Dark in the city, night is a wire
Steam in the subway, earth is afire
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo

Woman, you want me, give me a sign
And catch my breathing even closer behind
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo

In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Smell like I sound, I'm lost in a crowd
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Straddle the line in discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Mouth is alive with juices like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Stalked through the forest, too close to hide
I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo

High blood drumming on your skin, it's so tight
You feel my heat, I'm just a moment behind
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo

In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Scent and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine, I'm after you
Mouth is alive, all running inside
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Hungry like the wolf

Burning the ground, I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt down, I'm after you
I smell like I sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Mouth is alive with juices like wine
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Burning the ground, I break from the crowd
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you
Scent and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found
And I'm hungry like the wolf

Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme
I howl and I whine, I'm after you
Mouth is alive, all running inside

In 1982, British New Wave band Duran Duran released their fifth single, ``Hungry Like the Wolf,'' to the UK market, where it reached the top five on the UK Singles Chart. Though the band had initially failed to cross over to the US market, MTV put the video for the song into heavy rotation, which resulted in the song peaking at #3 on the Billboard Top 100 in March 1983. Subsequently, the video won the first Grammy Award in 1984 for Best Short Form Music Video.

The song was written and recorded in one day by band members. The lyrics, they say, were inspired by the tale of ``Little Red Riding Hood.'' The laughter heard at the start of the song was recorded live by Nick Rhodes' girlfriend at the time, as were the screams played during the fade-out.

Scent and a sound, I'm lost and I'm found

And I'm hungry like the wolf

The song is rampant with its animalistic sexual undertones. It's the story of a man on the prowl for a woman, tracking her from the city to the forest until he captures her. At the end of the music video, however, the hunter gets scratched by the woman. Could he also be the prey?

Oh yeah, and the video was kind of interesting to watch for this song. Like where Simon gets scratched near the end. It's interesting because he's the pursuer, he claims he's the one on the hunt like a wolf and yet he is also the pursued. It also reminds me of that scene in the beginning of the extended version of Wild Boys where Simon throws his head to the side as if he's been bitten by a vampire or something. I know they've got the vampires coming in later in that video. Duran Duran is big on vampires and zombie images I think and being pursued and turned into monsters.

The song is more about someone trying to complete a mission. In doing so, he becomes frantic as he finds obstacles and cannot control the beast within.

Aside from that, this is one of the first Duran Duran songs I ever heard and was instantly swept away with the awesome beat and sound. It is truly a song one must hear to fully enjoy.

I read that this song was supposed to be like a modern Little Red Riding Hood, but it just reminds me of rapists and stuff. XP

This is a stalker song, and there is nothing more to it... whether it is for someone in particular, I do not know.

Anybody seen the Bruce Campbell Old Spice commercial with this in it? I think that pretty much sums up the song. Yeah...

This song in my opinion is about a guy who is in love with a girl, however, they have had no relationship yet, and he is following her, since that's what us guys do when we really like someone...we follow them (maybe not like this guy but we always try are hardest to hang around with them). And he is just infatuated by her scents and smell of her. He just wants to be with her really badly.

This one is easy. He was hungry like the wolf because he wants to eat her. Out!

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
