She saw the look in his eyes
N' she knew better
He wanted her tonight
And it was now or never
He made her feel so sad
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin' Now Jamie wouldn't say all right
She knew he'd forget her
N' so they said ah-good night
Oh, and now he's gone forever

She wants to send him a letter, uh yeah yeah
Uh, just to try to make herself feel better
It said "Gimme (Gimme a call sometime)"
But she knows what that'll get her

Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'

Now Jamie's been in love before (Ahh-ahh)
And she knows what love is for (Ahh-ahh)
It should mean a little, a little more (Ahh-ahh)
Than one night stands. Woo!

(Guitar Solo)

She wants to send him a letter, uh yeah yeah
Just to try to make herself feel better
It said "Gimme (Gimme a call sometime)"
But she knows what that'll get her Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'

Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'
Oh, whoa, whoa, Jamie's cryin'

General Comment:it's about a groupie that gets attached to the singer or band member.

quick funny story.... When I was a small child I used to think that this song was about me. I was born the year before the song became a hit and of course my name is Jamie... Mom said I used to cry when she couldn't play it over for me. Who knows maybe it is and maybe my mom was a groupie...lol.. now wouldn't that be funny?

General Comment:She wanted a relationship and he wanted sex. She said no to sex and he said goodbye. She's torn because she really wants to be with him in a relationship but he's only after sex. If she calls him she knows thats all she can ever hope to have so she doesn't. Pretty simple.

General Comment:Actually, look at the lyrics, Jamie WOULDN'T say alright. And now he's gone forever. She refused his advances, he decided she wasn't worth it as a result, and now she regrets that she lost him.

General Comment:Girl confuses lust for love and sleeps around but cries when everything turns into a one night stand instead of actual love and can't figure out what's wrong with her.

    General Comment:SRV Blues got it.

Alex has said that this is his least favourite Van Halen song. Maybe he never actually played the drums for, or heard any song from Van Halen III =D

General Comment:I think Dcat is right. She is in love with a guy, but the guy only wants sex from her. When she refuses to continue to sleep with him, he leaves her. She still cares for him, hoping that he will call or write, but deep down she knows that he would never do so. Read the lyrics again and you see what i mean.

I'm pretty sure she gave it up already and he left her.

General Comment:when i first heard this song i thought it was about rape. but it kind of seems like when you have friends with benefits and you have sex..and it didnt mean anything to the other person but since you guys have been "fooling around" you get attached to them and end up actually liking them, and it really meant something to you. and i think thats jamie, and she feels sad. it could also be about a girl who was pressured to put out or the guy would leave her.
