Every day I get in the queue (Too much, Magic Bus)
To get on the bus that takes me to you (Too much, Magic Bus)
I'm so nervous, I just sit and smile (Too much, Magic Bus)
You house is only another mile (Too much, Magic Bus)

Thank you, driver, for getting me here (Too much, Magic Bus)
You'll be an inspector, have no fear (Too much, Magic Bus)
I don't want to cause no fuss (Too much, Magic Bus)
But can I buy your Magic Bus? (Too much, Magic Bus)

Nooooooooo!

I don't care how much I pay (Too much, Magic Bus)
I wanna drive my bus to my baby each day (Too much, Magic Bus)

I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it ... (You can't have it!)
Thruppence and sixpence every day
Just to drive to my baby
Thruppence and sixpence each day
'Cause I drive my baby every way

Magic Bus, Magic Bus, Magic Bus ...

I said, now I've got my Magic Bus (Too much, Magic Bus)
I said, now I've got my Magic Bus (Too much, Magic Bus)
I drive my baby every way (Too much, Magic Bus)
Each time I go a different way (Too much, Magic Bus)

I want it, i want it, I want it, I want it ...

Every day you'll see the dust (Too much, Magic Bus)
As I drive my baby in my Magic Bus (Too much, Magic Bus)

Pete hates this song, mainly because people are always asking him to play it. So I was cracking up when The Who were on the Simpsons and Homer was like, 'Play magic Bus!!!'

People, i know it may seem like it is about drugs, why does every song always have to be Drugs? I like the romantic interpretation of this song much better, and thats what i think about when i listen to it. A guy lives far from his girl, and takes a bus to go see her. One day, he gets sick of taking a bus, and decides to buy the bus. He argues with the driver, then finally gets it. The 'dust' is whats kicked up as he drives towards his girl. Now, isn't that more fun to think about when you hear this song?

I think it's about a guy -- maybe a teen too young to have a driver's license -- who gives an ordinary bus a sense of enchantment because it takes him to his sweetheart's town, and he fantasizes about buying the bus and driving it to his sweetheart's without relying on drivers and schedules and all that happy crappy

did you ever imagine that you had a magic car that could sweep you to place to place in the the air? well thats what i think this is a magic bus that could take you anywhere in the world. however the singer want only to be taken to his girl...maybe he can't drive yet. but he's hoping when the bus comes to take him she is waiting for him.

Whatever it was originally about love or drugs, I believe Pete's intention certainly was to make people see both. If you're on drugs and they are too expensive, it fits this way for you. If you're in love and the one you love lives far, it's perfect like this for you too. Personally, I always listen to it using the second option, as it describes exactely how I feel.

The live versions are all really amazing, with harmonica and some extra lines. Most times, Pete ends up surrendering and saying a price, "one hundred English pounds". I'm not from England, but isn't it extremely cheap for a bus (especially a magic one)?

I have never been one to blindly say that any songs were about drugs, but I am sure this one is. I was working with people who use Meth a few years ago who were describing their 'Amped up' feelings when they were out, they called it Jonesing and they sounded just like Roger Daltry going 'I want it I want it I want it' To me that is clearly someone Jonesing... Also... every day I get on a magic bus!?.. gonna ride that bus every minute each day!? to me that is clearly the description of some kind of upper. Bonus Comment; My Generation has a similar beat with another 'speed' effect. When someone on an upper stutters is sounds just like Roger saying ge ge ge generation. I'm thinking those boys are very familiar with that phenomenon.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
