Deaf, dumb and blind boy
He's in a quiet vibration land.
Strange as it seems, his musical dreams
Ain't quite so bad.

Ten years old with thoughts as bold as thoughts can be.
Loving life and becoming wise
In simplicity.

Sickness will surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go.
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know.

A vague haze of delirium
Creeps up on me.
All at once a tall stranger I suddenly see.
He's dressed in a silver sparkled
Glittering gown
And his golden beard flows
Nearly down to the ground.

Nothing to say and nothing to hear
And nothing to see.
Each sensation makes a note
In my symphony.

Sickness will surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go.
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know.

His eyes are the eyes that
Transmit all they know.
Sparkle warm crystalline glances to show
That he is your leader
And he is your guide
On the amazing journey
Together you'll ride.

By the way, i'm only 19 and tommy's been one of my favorite movies since the age of about 5. I saw them twice on their '06 and '07 tour. They kicked ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They jammed during my generation for at least 10 minutes. They werent as good at the super bowl but you could tell that they tried their best.

If ur a big who fan, i would check out their new album "endless wire" some of its best songs include "man in a purple dress", "mike post theme" "black widows eye" and "endless wire"

Peace and even if Petey does like kiddy pornography, their music fuckin rocks

General Comment:Has nobody commenting on the ridiculous, killer drums in this song??? This song is the reason I fell in love with The Who. Live at Leeds version check it out. I definitely think Sparks is part of his musical Journey. I love these songs (Amazing Journey and Sparks) because when I listen to music I pretty much leave reality.

General Comment:I agree, this is a description of Tommy's journey into his own mind and the fact that he begins to translate all sensations into music and imagery, even the awful ones like his sexual abuse. I have heard Pete Townshend speak about this and about his fascination with the concept of a person who is unable to communicate with the outside world and interprets every sensation and emotion as an internal musical experience. But I have also always been intrigued by the lyrics "all at once a tall stranger I suddenly see, he's dressed in a silver sparked glittering gown and his golden beard flows nearly down to the ground". This to me has always seemed to have deep philosophical foundations (not unlikely for the extremely literate Townshend), suggesting perhaps DesCartes, and even Buddhism, and that the only way to really understand the "creator", or to reach enlightenment is to close your mind off to most external stimuli. This theme comes up again when Tommy becomes a Messianic figure and encourages his followers to seek enlightenment in the same way.

General Comment:Four songs into the album, and it's already very promising. Certainly better than the other Rock Opera I know (that happens to be by my favorite band), The Wall.

    That says something.

General Comment:This describes what Tommy feels in his brain and the journey through his mind. This is the cornerstone of Tommy because it explains that he can't see, hear, or speak but he can still think. Very hard to explain.

General Comment:This song is about Tommy's journey into his mind to find enlightenment. Everybody thinks he is dumb because he can't talk, but he actually has thoughts and is quite intelligent.(Ten years old/thoughts as bold/as thoughts can be)
