Lyrics for Silent Lucidity as interpreted by Boonechic_21

Silent Lucidity Lyrics
Hush now don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over or has it just begun

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension
I-will be watching over you
I-I'm gonna help you see it though
I-will protect you in the night
I-I'm smiling next to you in silent lucidity

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you build within come tumbling down
And a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of Illusion can you realize
Your dream's alive you can be the guide but
(I) will be watching over you
(I) I'm gonna help you see it though
(I) will protect you in the night
(I) I'm smiling next to you

I don't think that what Tate had in mind, but I think PINKFLOYDFAN101 has a point there...

The song is a Father's loving response to his son (or daughter's) nightmare ... the child dreamed about his father's death. The song is written to respond to the child, and uses "lucid dreaming" as a state at which he or she can overcome this fear. The song is also a statement that reassures the child that "no matter what happens, I will always be there for you, you don't need eyes to see"

Pumkin...don't worry about it. VH1 has just as little authority on what is good music as MTV has.

I think this is one of their best songs and as far as meaning goes I'm not entirely sure but I think miqz is pretty close. I always thought it would make a good funeral song. It's so full of emotion and passion which is why i love queensryche.

Here's my take:
A Guardian Angel tries to comfort his young ward who is having bad dreams due to separation anxiety (In his most recent dream one of his parents died)
The angel tries to calm the kid down and lets him know that he can find the tools inside himself to protect himself from those bad dreams.
This song has meant a lot more to me since I started reading Sandman by Neil Gaiman

this is one off the best songs ever made.. it reminds me of my brother that passed away (also because he used to always play it on his guitar) but it brings a sense of comfort to something so horrible.. it sends chills through me everytime i listen to it.. a truly wonderful song

This song means of being able to control your dreams. I had done that maybe once or twice, but I'm just nothing to it, really.

Anyways, is anybody else reminded of Pink Floyd when they first heard this? I was. x_x

Brilliant song by the way.

Really helps me through the day listening to it.

I think the lyrics make it pretty clear that the song is about dream control. Very interesting concept and beautiful song. One of the few songs from that time that I enjoy now as much as I did then.

I don't care to discuss the meaning of this song for the integrity of my brain is far less capable of comprehending such a significant intellectual meaning, such as this song, as some, and I personally don't feel that it is worth the time not utilized towards better processing of important ideas or issues such as contemplating solutions for world hunger or our potential fuel shortage.

I don't know if all that I said makes sense -- but understand, I just drank a mere gallon of KoolAid.

Basically, I have no idea what this song really "means." Confirmed, it is definitely about dreaming. I actually have a first hand experience with lucid dreaming but it was self inflicted.. Cool thing is, it really makes you think of sleep in a whole new way.. It actually makes you look forward to it.

This song is amazing. Shirley on my list of 'Top 7 Greatest Songs Ever.'

Dig deeper people. Mastering dream control is but a baby step on the road life's unfolding. Break down the illusions you hold about the nature of existence, and find out the true breadth of dream control - for life IS the dream. The song details the early stages in the process of manifesting your dreams within reality.

Yes....dig deeper... =D Warning: This link may cause a dramatic, life changing experience.

This song is such a blatant copy off of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb." (which by the way was much better... my opinion). There's so many obvious similarities. the cord progression at the chorus, the haunting guitar solo, the orchestra, etc... i'm not a queensryche fan despite the fact that I like their genre. I just think that the lead singer adds so much needless emotion that it just sounds corny. that's why it was in VH1's worst metal songs. and it's not just this song, it's every song. every time i listen i think "come on, bro. knock it off, dramaqueensryche..."

It's a perfect song to explain the scary dreams to your child. It worked for me, and my son is only 4. He wakes up terrified sometimes, I paraphrase the lyrics of this song to him and he seems to calm down and believes i'll be there to protect him. He always seems to relate to this song, that's why i think this song was written on the basis of how he explained the fear and design of dreams to his kids.

In my opinion, this is one of the most brilliant songs of our time. I'm glad that I really don't know the meaning of the lyrics. This allows me (and all of us) to relate the lyrics to our own lives and experiences.
This song for me can bring me down to tears, and other time boost my spirits. When my daughter was diagnosed with a terminal illiness two years ago at the age of seven, I would listen to this song while she slept. I don't believe I ever cried more in my life. Now, two years later, this song brings me inspiration, strength and hope. It's amazing the power of music. I never wanted to thank a group of musicians more then I want to thank Queensryche for this song.

The old question about what song would you take if you were stranded on a desert island for the rest of your life........this is the one I'd take. Hands down.

Thanks Queensryche.

Lucid dreaming to be sure. it is a beautiful pink floyd type song performed by pinksryche, queen floyd also known as the thinking man's metal band. the song is about mastering dream control.
let me go thru the song in sections:

Hush now don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over or has it just begun
this part is about dreaming of a something bad, in this case the death of someone dear. the song instructs you to not get up when you wake up, rather go back to sleep and concentrate using a scientific lucid dream inducing method. it means that you can relive the experience and change it to your will.

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension
this part is about controling the dream and changing t it is a 'new' dimension.

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you build within come tumbling down
And a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of Illusion can you realize
Your dream's alive you can be the guide but
about after mastering dream control you can escape the horrors of life in your dreams.
beautiful and intelligent song

Hi everyone,
The great thing about songs is that they can mean whatever you want them to mean...just based on your own perspective.

I have always loved this song, but never thought about the meaning. I just listened to it today, after a long time not hearing it, and I actually think it is about death. My father, god rest his soul, died a month ago. I like to think that the song is about dreaming of people you have lost in life, and how you can somehow still connect with them in your dreams. Who knew metal could be so sentimental? LOL

I usually do not analyze things so deeply! But that is what the song means to me.
