take my hand
you'll never find
another quite like mine
if you look
you'll see that i'm
a lonely one
I lost my soul
deep inside

and it's so
black
and cold deep inside

sistine smile
you'll never know
the trap it's set
and if you did
you'd never look
into
its eyes

the sun don't shine
the wind won't blow
when you go hide
without your love
I'm lonely
deep inside

General Comment:interesting idea jackalopehellrider! However the Sistine Chapel Ceiling does not have two "lovers" almost touching fingers, it is the hand of God giving Adam life. I believe the word sistine is suppose to take on a meaning such as pristine in the song. I agree with everything you said regaurding unrequited love being the focus of the song.

General Comment:oh i forgot to add that it seems to be a song of reflection..like they were trying to save him but if they only knew he was a lost cause and just evil, they would've cursed him instead.

General Comment:It seems like it's about a guy who's no longer in the light... He's damned.. How he lost his soul? Who knows.. but he's lost all feeling and his life isn't really alive. Especially without the church.

Perhaps it's about people suffering and the only way to salvation is through the church? It seems to imply that without the church, everyone goes to hell. There the only one's who can save our soul.

who knows but there are different things sistine references.
sistine is a reference to anything within the vatican but sistine is also a name of several popes that were around along time ago.
Than of course sistine is the name of a chapel with the famous painting on the ceiling. So I think that it has to be the general unambiguous definiton of sistine, which would be anything relating to the vatican or pope.

General Comment:Actually, the song is a play on Michelangelo's painting on the cieling of the Sistine Chapel (or Capella Sistina in Italian).
In a famous part of the painting, two lovers are reaching out to each other, their index fingers almost touching.
The song is about a love that could never come into fruition, recalling the hands of Capella Sistina that could never quite reach each other, leaving the lovers frozen in longing.
    So yeah, unrequited love, basically.

General Comment:You dopes. This song is clearly devoted to himself.
Danzig is expressing his love to himself in this song.
If you YouTube the music video, it'll make this much clearer, as he's singing the song into a broken mirror.
