I get up and nothin' gets me down
You got it tough, I've seen the toughest around
And I know, baby, just how you feel
You got to roll with the punches to get to what's real

Ah, can't you see me standin' here?
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen
Ah, can't you see what I mean?

Ah, might as well jump (jump)
Might as well jump
Go ahead and jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump

Hello, hey you
Who said that?
Baby, how you been?
You say you don't know
You won't know until you begin

So can't you see me standing here?
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen
Ah, can't you see what I mean?

Ah, might as well jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Might as well jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Jump

Might as well jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump
Get it and jump (jump)
Go ahead and jump

Jump
Jump
Jump
Jump

I have read that the band has said this song is about someone who was about to jump to his death from a hotel that the band was staying at during one of their earlier tours.

Diamond Dave was watching the guy and made some off-hand remark about how when he sees someone hanging on to the side of a building, ready to jump, they always end up "jumping".

I think the lyrics can back this story up. This person in the song is basically a social misfit looking for some acceptance, generally from a woman who he wants to take home and have sex with. But the situation towards the end of the song has this "character" losing his confidence and deciding that he can't take it anymore and decides to jump to his death.

Sorry for the masculine references, I suppose that the character in the song could be a woman as well.
