Lyrics for Everybody Hurts as interpreted by Novartza

Everybody Hurts Lyrics
When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
when you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on.
Don't let yourself go, everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes.

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along.
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
if you feel like letting go, (hold on)
when you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on.

Everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends.
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand.
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
when you think you've had too much of this life to hang on.

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes.
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. (repeat & fade)
(Everybody hurts. You are not alone.)

How can no one be commenting on Rapid Eye Movement? That is blasphemy. ReM started a revolution of free thought. Come on now kiddos..just contribute to your happiness started by this great band.

Heh... this generation isn't all Fred Durst and Busta Rhymes. Some of us still have taste. I think R.E.M. is one of the greatest bands ever, right up there with Queen and Dr. Hook.

This song is one of the most beautiful and moving that I know. I view it musically and lyrically as "Bridge Over Troubled Water" for the 21st century. The Wurlitzer electric piano sound just seems to wrap itself around you. And the strings at the end playing flattened 7th (blues) harmonies...

This song makes me cry everytime I hear it, of course that may have to do with the fact that the only time I listen to it is when I'm depressed...

it's a good message....stick it out, because everyone hurts sometimes, and just like them, you too will be alright.

whenever I hear this super song I think of the music video, which I think is one of the most brilliant music videos ever made. All the people stuck in traffic and thinking about the stressful events that drape their everyday lives, then all the sudden its like the light of importance went off and all the people got out of their cars and started walking through the traffic. It goes to show that in life there will always be problems, but in the end eveythings ok.

This song gives hope out there for everyone whom has been hurt in the past. Anti-suicide song. I heard Stipe wrote this for Kurt Cobain, but that's only what I heard. This song makes me cry at times too. The music video goes so well with the song. It's just a reassurance kind of song saying "Everybody does hurt, so don't think it's just you.". The end with Stipe singing "Hold on....so hold on". Is very beautiful, and in the video, that being the only thing he is just beautiful.

REM, when talking about the band, doesn't stand for rapid eye movement. They decided on the name by flicking through a dictionary. A lovely song, if not very depressing though...

I would just like to say, commentwise, that the original comment about Random Eye Movement is incorrect. REM are just three letters, in this case, they do NOT stand for the words "Rapid Eye Movement".

1 of about 3 songs which has actually made me cry. i associate it with a few things, such as listening to it shortly after i split from with my girlfriend, which really hurt and also the fact we'd often discussed what a great song it is. One other association of it, i'll never forget is of September 11th. i was at college and we had a 3minutes silence, along with the rest of europe, on the friday in the week that terrible event happened. in the college common room, we all stood in silence with a link up on the stereo to BBC Radio 1. as soon as the silence ended, the radio played this song, talk about very appropriate. i remember looking around as a lot of people were still kinda quiet, listening to the song, and seeing hardly one dry eye around. Superb song.

did you knwo that 85 % of suicide attempts and actual suicides happen with this song in the background?
That's kinda strange though, as the message is actually NOT to give up instead of letting go.

i can't believe this song only has 4 comments, i expected to see loads as i know that its touched alot of people. i also think that stipes voice makes it even closer to you as its like his voie is reaching inside you. its just a reassurance song, that everybody has bad days, and everybody needs someone else to get them through it.
