We write to apologize
We ask to look past life as it goes by
I know you have sacrificed
Time, life, love- time to fly
Please consider all things trite
Forgiveness will be the thing that gets us by
I know to have something like this broken is hard to fix

Embers- we're burning bridges down
Envelopes- stuffed with feelings found
We write things down as means to reconcile

We write to patch things up
Maybe not to agree but to proclaim love
Let's look ahead and then
We'll see the One who's glory never ends
And based on that we'll see
There will be room for change but gradually
I know to have something like this broken is hard to fix

If all is said and done and over
If we don't have to
We're not going to
Make the change it's worth a try
What's broken can be fixed tonight

probably the best lines in the song. when couples break up, its not always someone's fault. sometimes people are just not meant to be or things are not meant to be, the only thing they can do is try to understand each other's position.. they might not agree, and tahts why they split up, but they respect each other and care for each other enough to try to understand it... and "proclaim love" is just saying, despite our differences that caused our relationship to end, I will always love you. it hurts to love someone but other factors come in to break up the relationship. and maybe if they come to an understanding, they can try to change so a relationship will work even though its not easy...

General Comment:mae is not a purely christian band... their songs are a lot about life, relatinship, growing up, and yes there are religious references but that doesn't mean every song is revolved around god. this one, is definitely about a broken heart and relationship. and they are writting letters trying to fix things.

    General Comment:This song is awesomeee.
Haha, I love Mae but I only stumbled across this song today :( !

I love the first verse, it reminds me of one of my best friends when we got into this fight that lasted a year.

Anyway this is probably my favourite Mae song now. It WAS Just Let Go, which is the most adorable song I've ever heard in my life but... :D.

General Comment:It's talking about a relationship that has just ended. He obviously still loves her, so he's writing to her trying to convince her that they can work through it even though it's hard. It isn't ABOUT god, but it does refer to god, saying that if you look to god it makes all things possible even if it's gradual. Eventually they can work it out if they both try and if they look to god.
GREAT song I just got into Mae recently as I am planning on going to a Relient K concert and I saw them on the bill I thought i'd check them out. I became an instant fan, this being one of my favorite songs.
