This isn't another new fashion
Or a new wave plastic trend
Everybody's searching for something
But in the mean time let's all just pretend
I've got this feeling
And I don't know what it is
This room is overcrowded, man,
And I need air to breath

Big bang, big crunch
You know there's no free lunch
Kneel down and pray
Here comes your judgment day
Big crunch, you know
It's going to be quite a show
What goes around always comes around

A million hopeless faces
Dwell within protected walls
All waiting for a moment in their lives
When they can heed the clarion call
And it's all so oppressive
My mind feels like a sieve
This city is overcrowded, man,
And I need room to live

I think of the countless shadows
That have all come and gone
All suffering in the notion of better things to come
If you share these beliefs
You know I wish you well
Cause there's no room left in heaven
And there's sure no room in hell!

General Comment:Bad Religion = intelligent, truthful lyrics and brutally perfect punk rock.

I heard this first on Tony Hawk's Underground (I'm thinking video games brainwashed me from a very early age into falling in love with punk/alternative music) and I absolutely can't get over it. It's one of those songs I listen to more often than I should -*in fear of actual brainwashing from the repetitive listening of my favorite songs*- but I just can't help but to add it to my playlists when I make them, whether I'm working out, cleaning the house, or just wandering aimlessly.

*This song is also tons of fun to sing.

General Comment:'What comes around aways goes around' ya and 'Big Crunch' theory and the TANSTAAFL idea (no free lunch). I think Greg is saying that our universe possibly recollapsing, due to laws of science, well 'what comes around always goes around yeah!'

General Comment:I think its kindof the expression of being bombarded by the modern world...which is on full blast to Hell in all directions. Hence Big Bang

..and its all hard to fathom..his mind feels like sieve

And how everythings been done...all evil.. all good.. its been done before... theres no room in heaven...no room in Hell..

cuz this world is so overpopulated... no room to breath... essentially and nobody can catch a break... nothings for free.. no free lunch..

and all together the chaos of it all is like a big bang..

General Comment:i deffinantly think this song has a lot to do with science because of not only "big bang, big crunch" but because stephen hawkings refers to the universe as the ultimate "free lunch"
but its obivously about more than that. its about the human expirience, as short as it may be compared to the universe

General Comment:I think its meaning is more scientifically related. Check out the Oscillating Theory, or "The Big Crunch."

General Comment:This is the song that got me into Bad Religion. I think the meaning does not need to be explained.
