Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
And maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have

If I made you feel second best
Girl I'm sorry I was blind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

And maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine

Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me,
Tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me, give me
One more chance to keep you satisfied
I'll keep you satisfied

Song Meaning:This song makes me think of my friend with benefits. She always liked me and cared for me and asked me to be her boyfriend all the time but each time I would reject her. Deep inside I knew I liked her but I hid my feelings because I knew we had lots of differences. We were very sexually attracted to one another and had sex every time we hung out. When I hear the song I miss her and feel really bad how I treated her and how I took her for granted. I sometimes want to contact her but I am involved now and also I don’t think she wants anything to do with me anymore based on how I treated her :-(

General Comment:This is not the original, but it's my favorite version. I love this one of Willie's and his rendition of The Nearness of You. This song is now being used for an SPCS-type of commercial to end animal abuse. The commercial saddens me, but at least I get to hear Willie. Such a sweet, tender song.

General Comment:That's the thing about relationships... they're not that easy. Not everyone can always be fully open and comfortable with exrpessing one's feelings regularly, especially in a relationship's infancy. A lot of things are kept unsaid, and although many times the things that ARE said keep the partnership going, the unspoken things can ultimately lead to its downfall. You really gotta haul ass and let the ohter know you care about them. And again, that's not always the easiest thing to do. Especially when you're one who tends to keep to themselves. This song is great in that it explains one of the most heartfelt sentiments ever. Not knowing or not saying the right words all the time or at all the right times is common, and communication gets confusing. But what could mean more than when you're always thinking about someone? The tragedy of it is that no matter how often they're on your mind and how much you would do for them, all can be lost if you don't vocalize it. This song is about realizing too late that he should have done more, and expressing that one get-wrenching statement that I think could mean more than any other.

General Comment:The first time I heard this song, I broke down because it reminds me of my father. I wish he would have seen me more than think of me.

General Comment:Yeah, defintely about how they cared about each other, but he didn't always make her feel loved and he's hoping he hasn't completely ruined the relationship.

General Comment:This song is such a tear jerker. I think that in the relationship between the two people sung about, one of them deeply loved his partner, but had not been an affectionate person, he knew how he felt inside for his partner but did not ever let his feelings out. Because he was like that, the girl could not see the love that he actually has for her so she felt that she had to move on .. shown she did this in the line 'tell me that your sweet love hasn't died, and give me one more chance to keep you satisfied.' : he asks for one more chance because he realises that he can't keep holding his feelings inside, if he wants to keep her.
just how i look at it :)

General Comment:This is a song that i love singing and playing along to, but i almost feel like crying when i do. The way that willie nelson sings the lyrics are straight from the heart. Do you ever wish you'd written it yourself? Such a simple song that can mean so much. I love it.
