Lyrics for Castles Made Of Sand as interpreted by shadowcml

Castles Made Of Sand Lyrics
Down the street you can hear her scream
You're a disgrace as she slams the door
in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
and all the neighbors start to gossip and drool
He cries oh girl you must be mad
What happened to the sweet love you and me had
Against the door he leans and start a scene
and his tears fall and burn the garden green

And so castles made of sand
fall in the sea
eventually

A little Indian brave who before he was ten
played wargames in the woods with his Indian friends
And he built a dream that when he grew up
he would be a fearless warrior Indian chief
Many moons past and more the dream grew strong
until tomorrow he would sing his first war song
and fight his first battle
but something went wrong
surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

And so castles made of sand
fall in the sea
eventually

There was a young girl
whose heart was a frown
'cause she was crippled for life
and she couldn't speak a sound
and she wished and prayed
she could stop livin'
so she decide to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
and to her legs she smiled
You won't hurt me no more
But then a sight she'd never seen made her jump and say
Look a golden winged ship is passing my way

And it really didn't have to stop
It just kept on going

And so castles made of sand
slips into the sea
eventually

They did a great job with the song, though the Hendrix version is a bit better. Still a great job by Fruiscante on the guitar and Anthony on the vocals. The song itself is about broken dreams obviously.

This is a really great cover. One of their best ones. The first time my mom heard it she thought it was actually Hendrix. Which is pretty cool, because she saw him at Woodstock.

i really like this song. don't know the word to describe what happens, but its about people with big hopes, but they lose them and people with no hope and they gain it.

I just think it means nothing lasts forever be it a great fling, a dream of being a warrior or a life of misery. Because you never know when that sea is going to come take your castle away. So basically its a metaphor for life and death.

I love this song. so peaceful. havent heard the chili peppers (although they're my favourite band) one yet, but i love the hendrix version. i think its just a metaophore that everything comse to an end, good or bad.

I really like this cover, even though I haven't heard the Hendrix version yet. I think it's about how it doesn't matter what you do in life, you will go one day, like castles of sand are washed away in the sea.

I love this song. great Hendrix tune, and it is similar to real life cause something pure and sweet and wonderful can eventually slip away into nothingness, which is what he is talking about in this song.

O it's well sad especially the last verse. I like the riff that the guitar and bass do its so peacefull, yeh I think it is about hillel aswell. Thats probably why they did this cover, and they did it well i'm sure anyone will say.

I was surprised at how much I liked this song. I'm a huge fan of Hendrix and before I heard this song I didn't think it could even compare to the original, but was actually surprised. I think they did a great job with this song and with the other covers on Mother's Milk. Fire was awesome too. :D

i think it just means that life doesnt always turn out the way that you expect it to...for example
when you are a little kid at the beach, you make a castle in the sand...you dont expect it to get destroyed, but then the tide comes in, and it is destroyed...
in the three verses, something happened that was unexpected and unwanted...a couple breaks up because of alcohol abuse...a little boy does not get to grow up to be what he wants to be...and a girl wanted a better life...
no one expects tragedies to happen, but they do happen, everyone has a castle in the sand, and one day it will be destroyed...

I think the Chili's did a great job covering this song. It's my current song that's stuck in my head, so I thought I should write a comment about it. I've heard both versions, and to me I like the Chili Peppers version better (even though it's Jimmy's song) Anthony just sounds amazing, like always. And I like that it's a live concert version of it on the albums. (Mother's Milk-remastered, and Out In LA) And that's about it for now, I might be back later to add some other comments.... until then...see ya!

Kind of a Buddhist philosophy that everything is mutable, and even though it is rather indirect, the feelings will last forever unlike the events and the life we live.

It's sad throughout the entire song. All the versies are sad. the first verse i love for some reason. its about a girl, who gets abused by her boyfriend or father, cause hes always drunk. i love the way anthony sings it. "as she slams the door in his drunken face.." and "what happended to the sweet love you and me had?"

Its about dreams being destroyed. Castles are a symbol for dreams that fall into the sea is a symbol for being the destroyer eventually. Very sad. Take it Johnny=].
