Yes I'm lonely
Want to die
Yes I'm lonely
Want to die
If I ain't dead already
Ohhh girl you know the reason why.

In the morning
Want to die
In the evening
Want to die
If I ain't dead already
Ohhh girl you know the reason why.

My mother was of the sky
My father was of the earth
But I am of the universe
And you know what it's worth.

I'm lonely
Want to die
If I ain't dead already
Ohhh girl you know the reason why.

The eagle picks my eye
The worm he licks my bone
I feel so sucidal
Just like Dylan's Mr. Jones

Lonely
Want to die
If I ain't dead already
Ohhh girl you know the reason why.

Black cloud crossed my mind
Blue mist round my soul
Feel so sucidal
Even hate my rock and roll

Want to die
Yeah
Want to die
If I ain't dead already
Ohhh girl you know the reason why.

General Comment:As much as I love the Beatles, Yer Blues is the worst "blues" song ever written.
    American Blues > Brit Blues

General Comment:So call me daft, I have a dumb question... "if I ain't dead already, ooh girl you know the reason why..." What is the reason why? Because of her love and support? Because of sex? Because of ?????

General Comment:I think this song has something to do with Jon's feelings towards Paul McCartney's fatal car wreck in 1966

General Comment:I thought for a while that John wrote this song to poke fun at Blues music. This is the first time I read about John's heroin addiction and withdrawals, that's sad.

General Comment:what? I always thought that this song was parodying the stereotypical blues, like taking 'so lonely I could die' to its logical extreme.. I thought it was supposed to be funny

General Comment:Just as Lennon beat Karlheinz Stockhausen (Revelution no 9) at his own game, so did he beat all the "blues" rock artists at the time (1968 British blues). Robert Johnson et al, blah blah blah....

General Comment:My mother was of the sky.
My father was of the earth.
But I am of the universe

I think that he is saying his mother was religious, his dad was secular, but he is of the universe.. meaning all of the above

General Comment:It obviously is a song about masturbation, the parallel being between "to ejaculate" and "to die". When you masturbate you kill useless sperms. The fictional character in the songs does it in the morning and in the evening since what seems to be his girlfriend left him.
