We were talking
About the space between us all
And the people
Who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth
Then it's far too late
When they pass away

We were talking
About the love we all could share
When we find it
To try our best to hold it there
With our love, with our love
We could save the world
If they only knew

Try to realize it's all within yourself
No one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you

We were talking
About the love that's gone so cold
And the people
Who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know
They can't see
Are you one of them?

When you've seen beyond yourself then you may find
Peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we're all one
And life flows on within you and without you

Although I love W/in & w/out You, I also hear it as a siren's song, calling impressionable young minds to flit down the primrose path towards dissipation in drugs, false religious experience and ultimately idolatry. I know many will dislike my take on it but that is the way I analyze it. That is what happened to me in a certain phase of my youth. I honestly believe that while George Harrison was spiritually sincere (and I love what he brought to the Beatles musically) he was responsible, along with the Beatles and other 60's musicians, for bringing many souls into the bondage of Eastern mysticism. He may not have intended this, but due to the power of pop culture it happened. He DID bankroll Swami Prabhupada and the Hare Krishna cult in the U.S. at its inception... This song depicts the spiritual universe as a cosmic void - an impersonal "oneness" like the Hindu concept of Brahman, as does another favorite Beatles song Tomorrow Never Knows, butthat is not what the Bible tells us about spiritual reality or about God... And yet there are many lines in this song that are universally true. And it is a hauntingly beautiful song.
