I dig this song...

Nina Gordon has a beautiful voice. The lyrics aren't anything particularly cohesive or brilliant, but they're nice enough. It does capture the feeling of feeling alive and aware of everything - every now and that I feel that, and it is incredible.

This song reminds me of driving to school in my car in the fall of 2001...

I think this song is great, and the lyrics are simple, but they have a pretty powerful message. She probably experienced some past pain, and all she wants is to feel light and weightless, so that she wont have to hurt anymore.

This song describes what my life was like before I met my (now ex) boyfriend. I had always felt like I had wings once and that they melted. I had always liked dark days, too. The chorus refers to the night I got my first kiss from my boyfriend.

A friend randomly gave me the CD to listen to and this song sticks out from it. I wish 2003 cross faded into this song in some way though. Oh well.

my boss asked me if this song reminded me of flying. i tolf her it reminded me of flying and being weightless and sinking... or in a session of fucking... my boss is kind of hot.

im very drunk as of writnig this.... but this song reminds me of a deep and intimate passion between 2 loving and bound souls....

funny ... now CHCKEN DANCE is playing... ha HA!!! kind of ruins the serious thought i had to convey.

At first i thought the song was a love song, but as soon as I read the lirycs it occured to me that the song is about the myth of Icarus. In particular; the moment his wings melt and he falls to the sea.
Hence:

Down to the earth I fell
With dripping wings,
Heavy things won't fly

the next lines are a witty ironic comment on the reason for his fall (the heat of the sun melting his wings:

That's why
I prefer a sunless sky
To the glittering and stinging in my eye

the rest of the song is from his perspective as he is foating/dying in the sea

that is just one "litteral" meaning

the song could also be about any experience that opens your eyes to the fullness and joy of life

(even if it is too late, sometimes)

i think she's talking about an angel falling from heaven...'down to the earth i fell' and she couldn't go back because she couldn't fly? or...maybe she's talking about a ghost..
