We have the chance to turn the pages over
We can write what we want to write
We gotta make ends meet, before we get much older
We're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa

This time, we know we all can stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing we can make it better
Ooh, we're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa

Ooh, we're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make the noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence (we're not gonna sit in silence)
We're not gonna live with fear (we're not gonna live with fear)
Oh, whoa

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa

A rockin' song but they should have more posted on here. i believe this is about the younger generation having the power to voice their opinions about reconciliation between countries.

yeah and no one listens to you dick sneeze like i said once before go and get a life instead of ruining other boards here otherwise ur messing with me. Anyway i think this song has a great motive instinct about it and also i love his culture and the way he portrays himself to the industry. By saying i thought this song deserved a lot more posts here and credit to john farnham for a great icon to OZ.

you're mistaking yourself with someone else xD you're opinion is so not tactic, useless and out of delicacy. if you don't like this song, nobody's forcing you to listen to it. as for me it's like one of the greatest songs i've ever heard :) it's like so powerful and oh idk it makes me feel so heroic just as when i listen to he's a pirate from the POTC soundtrack xD

Dick sneeze, 40 years John has been doing this, which is longer than some performers would do. For someone who was born in England but moved here, he's great

Lol @ these comments. I love this song and I love John's voice. Dick sneeze, that is a very appropriate name for you; my dick could sneeze more constructive comments than you have provided, hey - here's an idea, see if you can post a comment without saying "fuck" then maybe I'll give a shit about what you have to say. But don't count on it.

oi, dick-nose... sorry, I mean dick sneeze... you my friend, are a wanker. If you really feel like gnawing at your wrists, don't let us stop you, hopefully if you don't die, you'll at list make your hands unuseable so you can't post the random useless bullshit you've posted so far. Ass.

The best thing about john farnham is that he's retired.

    Hate the song.

Hate his music in general (esp about the bloody cleaning lady) and I hate that every half-baked entertainer that ever lived in Australia gets the tag Australian.

Next thing people will be saying that Leo Sayer is a great Austrlian.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
