Lyrics for Mr. Blue Sky as interpreted by Kenobi65

Mr. Blue Sky Lyrics
Sun is shinin' in the sky
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin'
Everybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day

Runnin' down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly
In the city on the streets
Where once was pity
Mr. Blue Sky is living here today

Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong
Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong

Hey you with the pretty face
Welcome to the human race
A celebration
Mr. Blue Sky's up there waitin'
And today is the day we've waited for

Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong

Hey there Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Everybody smiles at you

Hey there Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Everybody smiles at you

Mr. Blue you did it right
But soon comes Mr. Night
Creepin' over
Now his hand is on your shoulder
Never mind I'll remember you this way

Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong

Hey there Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Everybody smiles at you

HA! What a cracking song. At the very end where he says, in a robotic voice, "Please Turn Me Over" is a direction to turn over the LP because there is a hidden song on the other side!

In the begining the radio voice says:

"Good Morning. Today's forcast calls for blue skys."

I like the jumpy-ness of this siong - it's just so happy.

My dad got to see ELO live back in the day, lucky bastard. ;)

This is one of the most beautiful songs of all times indeed. It was number 59 on some top 2000 of the most popular songs of all times, and it is not for nothing.

I had heard it because my dad kept playing his vinyls, he teased me with his artists I did not like.

But as for Electric Light Orchestra, thanks dad. :)

They wanted to keep the same spirit as in the song I am the Walrus by The Beatles if I recall correctly. For text-to-speech that is heard in their songs, it took literally days just to get one word. It was a labour of love, but an incredible amount of work.

Listen to their tune Daybreaker, it's the perfect song for beginning a day, it is also instrumental only. And I really like their 8-minute cover of Roll Over Beethoven. Jeff Lynne was a perfectionist!

I remember hearing John Lennon say if the Beatles stayed together they'd have sounded like E.L.O. eventually. I remember as a kid hearing the Beatles influence heavily in this song, seems partially to have been inspired from the Beatles "A Day in a Life".

What does the robotic voice say at the end!??? I always thought it said: "Mister Blue Sky Hi". What's with that "Please Turn Me Over" remark? It has nothing to do with the song!!
