Lyrics for Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except... as interpreted by ruben

Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except... Lyrics
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Come on is such a joy
Come on is such a joy
Come on, let's take it easy
Come on, let's take it easy
Take it easy, take it easy
Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey

Oh, the deeper you go the higher you fly
The higher you fly the deeper you go
So come on, (come on), come on
Come on is such a joy
Come on is such a joy
Come on, let's make it easy
Come on, let's make it easy, oh
Take it easy, (yeah yeah yeah), take it easy, hoo
Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey

Oh!

Your inside is out and your outside is in
Your outside is in and your inside is out
So come on (hoo), come on (hoo)
Come on is such a joy
Come on is such a joy
Come on, let's make it easy
Come on, let's make it easy
Make it easy (hoo), make it easy (hoo)
Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey

Hey!

Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on . . .

Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on . . .

isn't it about heroin addiction? it's these lyrics which seem to support the theory: "The deeper you go the higher you fly; The higher you fly the deeper you go"

It seems like it's about sex to me and the people I've talked to about it... but I really don't know.

I agree that it is about sex. Its purely common sense, "The deeper you go, the higher you fly, the higher you fly, the deeper you go." Doesnt that remind you, just a little bit, of something sexual?

I'd say it's a combination of sex and John being...well, John. As for sex, I'm not going to go any deeper. Figure it out yourself, adding as much innuendo as you want. John is self-explanitory.

Not heroin. The Beatles weren't addicted to heroin.

I think that this song is about drug addiction, hence the monkey..as in monkey on my back. We all know that the more you do a drug the more you need to reach that same high...as in" the higher you fly the deeper you go". We have all heard mention of being on an acid trip and getting inside yourself...as in" your inside is out and your outside is in".But then again, I could be wrong.

One note, John was a heroin addict for many years inclusive to the one when this song was written. However, a simple definition if derived from a little background on John. In 1967 John's relationship with Cyntihia, his first wife, had about ended, and Yoko had become a mojor influence in his life and subsequent lyrical content. Terms of endearment John gave Yoko appear on the White Album frequently, such as Mother Superior, and in this case, My Monkey. Why John called Yoko his monkey, I'll never know, but nonetheless, he did.

So lets interpret the song using this definion. John finally able to through off the stigma of being married and the angst of an affair, and commits to his love, Yoko, John uses this song to proclaim to the world and Yoko to let it all out. Love for what it is and expand the horizons of the relationship to encompass the future marriage.

This song is a logical progression from John's Norrigian Wood, where he sings of the affair he had to keep secrect, yet used song to tell the world.

From what I've heard from more than one source, there was a political cartoon of John Lennon and a monkey with Yoko Ono's face claw into his back. What John is trying to say is that literally him and his "monkey" have nothing to hide.

To pkjun. I can't say what the song is about but actually there was a point in time when John (and Yoko) was addicted to heroin. It wasn't well publicized. It was around the same time that Eric Clapton was addicted to Heroin. Anyway they had some doctor trying to "cure" them. he tried methadone and a bunch of other stuff. Finally John got clean and took up being a "house husband".

Its about a thought Paul had in his head one day and just put it down on paper, and with help from Ringo (darning his socks) George (the lonely people) John helped with the music conception possibly. Eleanor turned out to actually be someone who died.

its about heroin addiction. being addicted to heroin is like having a monkey on your back. you kick it off for a while, but then it eventually jumps back on. not that i know what thats like or anything.

Sound advice. They have fleas and everything. They might gnaw, aswell. Especially if you smell of bananas down there. So in conclusion, never hide monkeys AND bananas in your pants. But is this what the song is about? mmm maybe dont do heroin with monkeys whilst bananas are in your pants.

the 'come on come on' is definately from a maharishi chant. the monkey is 100%yoko ono. absolutely amazing, and credit to paul for his screaming in this song.

Yes, worldamongus and sebastianguilt are most definitely right. This was a John and Yoko song. Why is it that every single Beatles' song has to be about drugs? I'm not saying that they didn't do drugs, because they're all quite open about the fact that they did, but come on now!
