This is one of those hard songs to track down. On some website, it was said that this song came along from a bet between John and one of his friends to rhyme the word "orange". Thus, "George Malakornge" was created. This song is simple, yet it has a jazzy groove that makes it stick in your head. ;)

this is an amazing song. so simple but yet so musically wonderful.....it'll def. get stuck in your head. and i have a dog named georgio....george for short.....haha im such a dork....so there u go. it makes me think of my dog......cause he eats oranges:)

the music in this song is so great. this song is nothing but a joke, but it's so catchy. i have a live version and a studio version. this song obviously has two guitar parts, but who is playing what in the live one? is john on electric and somebody else on acoustic?

Hahahaha. John Mayer is probably one of the most dry musicians you'll ever hear. How does someone pull something off like this? He sounds so serious in this song, yet it's a joke. All of it. Also, this solo is heavily influenced by SRV. It is easy to see that there would be no John Mayer without SRV. Listen to Rivera Paradise and you will see that John Mayer is a reincarnation of the Texas bluesician. Great stuff.

This song was written and recorded during John's stay at Berkley, which is probably the most renound musical school in the world. He had an assignment.. write a song about a word that you pick out of a hat, in this case.. an orange. this song is no more than improve, you should notice this from the drum machine in the background.. ie. a machine that makes beats.. John improves his way to a very sick solo inspired from his heros Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King. This song has no meaning other than playing the blues and getting an "A" on the assignment to John.

During a live show (22 Aug 01) John says:

"So about the time I wrote 'Comfortable', Matt [Mangano] and I were living in the same room, and, we were hanging out and writing songs; that was a time I could write some songs, now I'm just a lazy bastard, but, I'm getting back into it; but anyway, Matt and I were sitting around and playing songs to each other and passing the guitar back and forth and giving each other words to rhyme in a song and improv on, Matt was giving me a word, I did it and handed it back to him and he did a word and handed it back to me and I did a word, and I told him that the word to rhyme was orange, knowing that there wasn't any perfect rhyme for the word orange...and Matt one-upped me anyway. This is the song that he wrote:"
