I'm standing alone on the cliffs of the world.
No one ever tends to me.
Sitting alone, covered in rays.
Some things are so my mind can breath

Waiting is hard
Fucking takes so long
Draped in sun - hands in sand
Earth acid cleanses me, cleanses me clean
But the world, it never comes

It never comes
It never comes
It never comes

I lay on my side in the edge of the room
She never expects anything from me
When all the days - the days of the year
I know I miss that part of me.

Waiting is hard
Fucking takes so long
Draped in sun, hands in sand
Earth acid cleanses me, cleanses me clean
But the world it never comes

It never comes
It never comes
It never comes
It never comes
It never comes

General Comment:To me this is the perfect definition of depression and drug escapism...

Garcia sings about the desperation of being completely alone expecting nothing from nobody. It's the same feeling if you are on the "cliffs of the world" or "the edge of the room", in the end nothin changes the fact that you're alone wanting some kind of answer that never comes at all (waiting is hard and takes so long). He talks about earth acid... an obvious reference to drugs and the way they're used to escape the problem...

My Interpretation:i think this song is about someone who is feeling out of place like he doesn't belong to anywhere like a space cadet and hes waiting for something or someone to take him away from here or to make him feel somewhere else

    General Comment:Psychedelic experience 4 sure
when he says it never comes
    he's probably talking about
    this distant presence that
can be felt under the influence
    of psychedelics sometimes
It feels as if it's rushing
    toward you at high speeds
    but it "never comes".

General Comment:i think the song is about "spacing out" on drugs, because that's what a space cadet is-a slang term for that. and i think-yes-the term "earth acid" is like mushrooms. it's about just spacin' out on natural shit.

General Comment:I totally agree with rottenseed, but I do like the other explanation that everyone else has come up with. Josh Homme is quite the advocate of marijuana and mushrooms so it makes perfect sense. Also, he's a 'Space Cadet' because he's either really high or likes to get really high if anybody didn't make that connection.

    General Comment:It's about doing mushrooms.

"Some things are so the mind can breath" - A psychadelic experience is a lot of times refreshing and a needed experience.
"Waiting is hard—fucking takes so long" - he's waiting for the drug to kick in.
"Earth Acid cleanses me, it cleanses me clean" - If you've done shrooms you'd know its got many parallels to acid (LSD), but it is like "earth's acid" because it comes from the earth

The verse that starts with the line "I lay on my side on the edge of the room" is about actually being under the influence of the drug. He is tripping out. The earth has given him this gift and she does not expect anything in return for the trip.

General Comment:Quite obviously its talking about how actors like Bill Cosby will never get the respect they deserve or maybe its about a relationship.........
