I got a picture of a photograph
Of a wedding and a shell
It's just burning itching memory
I never kiss and tell

So turn it up and burn it
There's a hole in your head
There's a hole in your head
Where the birds can't sing along
Does anybody know how the story really goes
How the story really goes
Or do we all just hum along

Sell your soul and sign an autograph
Big bang baby, it's a crash, crash, crash
I wanna cry but I gotta laugh
Orange crush mama is a laugh, laugh, laugh

Spin me up, spin me, spin me out
Station to station send me up and out
Is this what life and love is all about
I think I think so

We used to see in color
Now it's only black and white
Yeah it's only black and white
'Cause the world is color blind
Does anybody know how the story really goes
How the story really goes
Or do we all just hum along

Sell your soul and sign an autograph
Big bang baby, it's a crash, crash, crash
I wanna cry but I gotta laugh
Orange crush mama is a laugh, laugh, laugh

Nothing's for free
Nothing's for free
Take it away boys

General Comment:I doubt this song is about Kurt Cobain. I heard it was a style tribute to glam rock. I doubt Scott Weiland would mock Cobain's death.
I'm a bit disappointed in Scott to hear about him talking shit about Layne Staley, although it can kinda be chalked up to the fact that Scott was also an addict at the time and, as addicts do, probably trying to shift attention away from his own problems, using someone else as a scapegoat. Not cool, but I guess I can kinda understand why.
Having been said... and note I am a big STP fan, they're one of my favorite bands... no amount of cheap dissing on STP's part can put them on the same level as Alice in Chains.

Memory:This song was released after Scott spent time in rehab with the manager of my old band. He told the stories of debauchery, crime and betrayal to Scott. The name of the band??? Big Bang Babies.

If you know the band, where their from, what they looked like, what they did...you'd know it to be the truth.

Look to Too Cool Queenie if you want a song about Cobain and Courtney Love.

General Comment:"Crash, crash, crash" tag in "Big Bang Baby," on Tiny Music, is a loving steal from the Rolling Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash." "But the whole idea behind the chorus," he claims, "was making fun, in a toungue-in-cheek way, of the whole rock-star, hero-worship thing: 'Sell your soul and sign an autograph/Big bang, baby, it's a crash, crash, crash.' And the Rolling Stones are the epitome of rock-star heroes, in a great way." (Weiland, in Rolling Stone Magazine - 2/6/97)

General Comment:all these little theories for this song yet im not too sure the accuracy of them.

for me, the song is about mocking the idea of being this huge rockstar

General Comment:There are many different interpretations to be made of this song and I doubt Weiland would get into limiting them. To me, the idea that "the song is about Kurt/Courtney" is poor. It limits things and is really the kind of interpretation that comes along with a prejudiced reading. It ends all relations. "It's about Kurt".

Anyway, I think it's about things like conformity. The hamster wheel, all that. It's all there in the colour blind reference, the "big bang baby" set against the "rules"; "I wanna cry but I gotta laugh". Especially as an adult, I appreciate that. You're allowed to express yourself to some degree as a teen, but as an adult, there's never any room for feelings of sadness. People will just go "what's wrong?" and so on.

    PS

I also always thought it was "say your sorry, sign an autograph". And of course I still think that would have been cooler, but it doesn't really change much of the overall impact.

    General Comment:WOWW YOU PEOPLE

kurt cobain is not the big bang baby
courtney love is not the big bang baby

    the big bang baby is...
    are you ready?....

    SCOTT WEILAND

this song is about him going from zero to hero in a matter of just a couple of years

i think this song also kinda mocks how people look up to scott when in reality he is just a normal guy with serious problems ( heroin addicted, bi polar disorder etc... ) and has become extremely self destructive

General Comment:Big Bang Baby is the forgotten/most underrated STP classic it seems ( amongst the people i know at least who are huge STP fans )

but i guess when you have seven number one songs and a bunch of other classics... its hard to remember them all
