  General Comment:I've never related to a song more than when I met an amazing guy in France a few days before I was due to leave. He told me my last night that he really liked me and I've never felt more conflicted. I wanted to stay but I wanted so badly to go home and see my family. I heard this song and cried. I don't see this as a guy trying to pick up chicks at all. I think it's a sincere goodbye song between two people who arent going to see each other again for a very long time and they want to make the most of every second.

  My Opinion:This song is very cute, but did anyone ever find it incredibly insincere? The meaning is supposedly bittersweet, but it's still very upbeat and the lyrics are sort of trite. I wonder, if instead of the basic story of a man leaving his girl behind for what ever reason and he wants to make his final night as special as possible, it's about a womanizer? A guy drifts through town, picks up a girl, feeds her some sweet lines to make her feel special, gets her a little tipsy, and has a one night stand; does he really *have* to leave tomorrow or is this just what the guy does? 'There's a log on the fire and it burns like me for you' is a bit corny and sounds a little like a pick up line. His wishing to stay but can't may be an excuse to just leave this tryst as a hit it and quit it. It reminds me of a friend I have in the army who seems to pick up an incredibly devoted girlfriend wherever he's stationed and then just sort of dumps her when he leaves rather than keep in touch, not just because that's the way it has to be, but because he mostly doesn't care, it's time to move on to next one.

  I have a friend of ten years and I treasure every moment we have cause I know that at some point things will change. I usually stay with him when I visit UK and I can't help but think gosh I wish we had a few more hours... In any case having lost a father and countless relatives the past few years the meaning changes almost every time but one think stays with me:
  
  Whatever happens don't regret what you share with someone good or bad, as a friend or as a lover... things change we all known that but as long as we live at some point we will have to go one way or another...

  My Interpretation:well my BF is in the marines and this is one of "our songs" we listen to it everytime hes home and ive listened to it a million times during this deployment. every line in it fits perfectly with what were going through. a long distance relationship. while hes home we want the time to go soo slow and we know he has to leave eventually. i end up crying and he tells me not to cry that he HAS to leave he doesnt want to. those goodbyes are the hardest thing in the world for both of us. great song <3

  General Comment:this song can be interpreted in many ways..but the real story behind this song is, as my social studies teacher told me that it is a military thing.
  it is about the world war.
  during the world war, adolf hitler persecute them(jews)..
  they are like saying that they are going to fight for their rights, they are going to leave their families and loved ones to join in the war, they do not know what would happen to them if they still continue to fight but it is worth it because in that way they could protect their families from danger,it is not easy though but they had to do it.
  
  you could also interpret it as a religious thing..
  it shows how much the Lord loves us that He has given Jesus Christ His only begotten son for us to be saved from our sins..

  General Comment:I'm really sad to see how you Americans try to fit in a grotesque cliché, seeing religion and war in love song from Sweden, a country that hates the Church and the army. I've read all the comments and almost every one of them is about Jesus or a soldier, it seems you can't separate the notion of love (which is supposed to be the supreme form of beauty) from the religion and your nation and it freaks me out.
  
  It tells a lot more about you than the song. It makes me think to this guy in the movie “the number 23” that sees this number everywhere.
  
  In point of view, it's just a tragic separation between two lovers (by the way, it could be two men or two women), whatever the cause.

  Song Meaning:This song is about living life and making the most out of the moment we have now. He's leaving his town to go away somewhere and he's making the most out of the night he has with his girl and his friends. "Save Tonight" means to make it last as long as possible, like it would never end. "lets delay our misery" is one of the best lines, don't think about the future that can sometimes seem depressing, live for now. Open a bottle of wine with friends and enjoy life :)
