I used to know a girl
She had two pierced nipples and a black tattoo
We'd drink that Mexican beer
We'd live on Mexican food
Yeah, I wish I could go back
Yes, back in time

Esther used to be the kind of girl that you would
Never leave
She'd do anything to give me what I need for my
Disease
She'd do anything

I can hear them talking in the real world
But they don't understand that I'm happy in hell
With my heroin girl
Yeah, with a heroin girl

Esther used to be the kind of lover you would
Never leave
She'd do anything to give me what I need for my
Disease
She'd do anything

I can hear them talking in the real world
But they don't understand that I'm losing myself
In a white-trash hell
Lost inside a heroin girl
Yeah, with a heroin girl, yeah yeah

They found her out in the fields
About a mile from home
Her face was warm from the sun
But her body was cold
I heard a policeman say
Just another overdose
Just another overdose!

Esther used to be the kind of lover you would
Never leave
She'd do anything to give me what I need for my
Disease
She would do anything

This song reminds me of my friend Sabrina, who has a heroin addiction. The ironic thing is when we were teenagers (before she had a drug addiction) we would listen to it over and over and over. When I look at it now it alost seems prophetic.

    "Esther used to be
The kind of lover you would
    never leave
She'd do anything to give me
    what I need
    For my disease
    She would do anything "

She was never my lover. But she was (and is) a very good friend.

can hear them talking in the
    real world
    But they don't understand that
    I'm happy in hell
    With my Heroin Girl

She's very misunderstood. But I like her and am her friend regardless.

They found her out in the fields
    About a mile from home
Her face was warm from the sun
    But her body was cold
    I heard the policeman say
    Just another overdose
    ...just another overdose!

This is my worst fear. I think about it every time she comes in my mind.

General Comment:The line "just another overdose" was something a cop said about his brother and it struck a chord with him. Esther wasn't real, and he's been quoted to say people used to try to get close to him on tour by saying they lived on the same street as him and Esther, then he'd call for security.

    General Comment:sillybilly, thats fuckin hilarious.

I'm sooo into this song, its awesome.

I dont know, but i would guess that this is not a true story. Because would be too hardcore to write a song about a chicks nipple peircings when she was close to you and tragicly died. Could you see yurself doing that?

General Comment:This song was actually a fictional story (there was no Esther) but it was based on the death of family, a girlfriend and friends. It's a great fucking song I love it, the chords and the way the guitar sounds is just so powerful and it really brings light to the lyrics. My favorite Everclear album is Sparkle and Fade it totally rocks, its really great post-grunge/grunge music

I went out with a girl with her nipples pierced, but she didn't like mexican food. :-( We would get into fights because i would get drunk on mexican beer and try to force feed her tacos... good times, good times.

Great lyric though, and a cool song that gets my imagination going.

General Comment:this is about a girlfriend that art once had who OD'd on heroine. this song really is centered around the line where the cop says "just another overdose". this line pissed off art, so in the song he states how much he loved her and how happy she made him, despite her problems

General Comment:the original everclear hit (even before santa monica), its about art's girlfriend overdosing on herione. art has a screwed up life, but he puts all his feelings into making great songs like this
