if you dont agree with me thats beautifully great, but this song means one thing to me: DRUGS

this guy is aubiously halucinating...
the lamp= the bong (its gets taken away, he looks)
the candle= joint (is all he finds)

anythings possible if your high enough... encluding, well maybe a carpet ride... weather its on the floor or not.. but ultimatly i think hes talknig about gonig on a TRIP(like, tripping out) i hope everyone knows what i mean...

"Let the sound take you away" i think means they're not physically going anyway... but its easier to trip when your lisenin to music.

all you guys are wrong. this song is about my frat, lambda chi alpha. the lamp and candle are symbols of lambda chi. check it out ask someone at lambda chi at your college about it. and yes, martenentertaing, you totally ruined the song forever.

It is indeed partially about Lambda Chi Alpha.

Rushton Moreve wrote the song, and he was a lambda chi. Not only that, but it's the only song he had a hand in writing (lyrically) in his history with the band.

Lead singer John Kay wrote the lyrics. He got inspired when he put the demo tape in a home stereo system he bought with the royalties from their first album. That's where he came up with the line, "I like to dream, right between my sound machine."

this was my dads favourite song growing up and i havetn spoken to him since i was like 12 but i found it in a box of his things at my nanas house... i broke it out and rocked on ... its a great song and gimpy jim is right it was musically inspired not drugs sorry kiddies... if thats wot u want try the doors (they rock)
