Lay a whisper on my pillow,
leave the winter on the ground.
I wake up lonely, there's air of silence
in the bedroom and all around.

Touch me now, I close my eyes and dream away.

It must have been love but it's over now.
It must have been good but I lost it somehow.
It must have been love but it's over now.
From the moment we touched 'til the time had run out.

Make-believing we're together,
that I'm sheltered by your heart.
But in and outside I've turned to water
like a teardrop in your palm.
And it's a hard winter's day, I dream away.

It must have been love but it's over now,
it was all that I wanted, now I'm living without.
It must have been love but it's over now,
it's where the water flows, it's where the wind blows
it's where the wind blows

It must have been love but it's over now,
it was all that I wanted, now I'm living without.
It must have been love but it's over now,
it's where the water flows...

Memory:Reminds me of a very tumultuous relationship I had with an amazing woman. In the end, her parents were right, I was not ready to settle down, and she was better without me back then. She went on a lived her life, got married, had a child, and I moved on as well, got married and all.. but part of me always wishes I could have been a better man back then and loved her the right way, instead of screwing around and ruining it 3 days before we were to be married.

The memory of this song, plays like a scene from a movie. We had broken up, and I was working in a mall in NY. She came to visit me to patch things up yet again, and as she came down the escalator in the mall I watched her, oddly enough this song was playing on the malls music system. We did manage to patch things up and stay together (Even lived together for a while) but she told me this song made her so sad when we did break up.

I just wish I could have done right by her, she deserved better. Thankfully I grew up normal and now have a great life and a great wife that I love very much... but the song still makes me sad for the pain I caused back then.

My Interpretation:To me this song is sarcastic. The chorus is " It must've been love, but its over now. " So you say to yourself, if its love, why is it over? Sounds to me like a situation where two people get together and its too good to be true and from the moment they touched they knew it felt too right.

General Comment:Pretty Woman is one of my mom's favorite movies, so I used to always here this song when she would watch it. This is a great song. It's sad and depressing, but it's somewhat soothing to hear and know that someone shares your pain.
