Charlie you're not my Charlie anymore you're screwing it up
You're killing your soul with an audience looking on
If I hadn't left early last night I would have made a speech to you
How you're not the only one you're going to hurt
If you don't believe me I don't believe in you
Makes it all feel better does it?
Makes you feel like heaven does it?
You loved it and you spent accordingly
You can't afford it now
You'll try and you'll fail
And love it like a little dog
And feed it on the scraps you find
And kiss it while you're still asleep
You buy now and pay later
So where's the problem you can ask if you keep your head up
But the road is long and you're falling asleep at the wheel
Here's a girl going crazy about you and I'm not far behind
Can you care about your friends anymore?
You buy now and pay later
You buy now and pay later

every line makes sense if you think about it that way
awfully sad though
i love the whitlams
"You can't afford it now
You'll try and you'll fail
And love it like a little dog
And feed it on the scraps you find
And kiss it while you're still asleep"
thats say how he treats it like its living and has feelings and is taking over him.
it the says:
"Can you care about you're friends anymore?"
meaning that he cares more about his addiction and his own world thsn his frends and wats happening aroud him.
also the name of the song is "buy now pay later (charlie no.2)"
BUY meaning the literal turn of exchanging goods for money and PAY meaning how his life will turn out.
&& also charlie is a slang word for cocaine. though i dont no if that had nething to do with it.
i love this song soo muchh.
&& yeah thats what i thinkk its bout n all.
You can't afford it now
You can't afford it now
You'll try and you'll fail
And love it like a little dog
And feed it on the scraps you find
And kiss it while you're still asleep
You buy now and pay later '
The lines are reasonably self explanatory. The first line “You can't afford it now” has to meanings. One being he literally cannot afford the money for the drugs, as well as meaning he cannot manage an addiction. The lines four through to seven detail the effects of the addiction, whilst the last states the detrimental effects in the long term from the drugs.
should be
you try and you fail
n its theres a girl not heres a girl
the song reminds me bout my own alcho problem
