Bang bang, you shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

I was five and you were six
We rode on horses made of sticks
I wore black, you wore white
You would always win the fight

Bang bang, you shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Seasons came and changed the time
I grew up, I called you mine
You would always laugh and say
Remember when we used to play

Bang bang, you shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Music played and people sang
Just for me the church bells rang
After echoes from a gun
We both vowed that we'd be one
Now you're gone I don't know why
Sometimes I cry
You didn't say goodbye
You didn't take the time to lie

Bang bang, you shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

General Comment:I prefer the original version of this song, but they're both great. They're both also intensely different and I really appreciate that, considering the Cher of the 1980s is a very different Cher than the Cher of 1966. A few things in the original are different (for example, in the original, Cher is the one who "wore white", and of course the fact that she addresses a "you" in this song, while in the original it's just "he").

Personally, I think this is one of the best songs Sonny Bono wrote. It's got that awesome cowboy theme running through it, which Sonny seemed sort of obsessed with, and I dig it. :)

General Comment:FYI Cher actually did two versions of this song. One she did back in the late 60s/early 70s, and then she did an updated version in the 80s. Personally I prefer the 80s version; it sounds so much darker and fits the lyrics quite well.

General Comment:If I believed in Hell, dumb ass cunt rags like mikus fikus would rot in it forever... too bad it doesn't exist. Either way, MF (is that coincidence or did you mean to name yourself Mother Fucker?), if I ever meet you in person, I shall give you a torture-filled death equal to those in Hostel, because you try to ruin what is just meant to be a good time. Go bash Britney if you must, but don't touch Cher, she is a goddess.

This song rocks on her concert (farewell tour) and I like it a bunch on the CD anyway. It did actually take a few listens to grow on me but now I love it along with all of her other wonderful songs!

General Comment:Two people grew up together, and eventually started going out. However, the girl was shot down by her boyfriend. Regardless of their pas together and the many memories tha they had, he broke her heart like he used to pretend t d when they were younger.
