stone roses influence most definately. Great song, the sort of lyrics that you want to hear from a band as they're breaking through in a music industry that was and is dominated by shit.

When played on an acoustic guitar, sounds like a song by Mansun. Can't remember which one. This is a really useful post.

Note to Americans: Thats Mansun as in the mid 90's Britpop band. I'm not meaning Marilyn Manson and just spelling it wrong, before someone crazy american calls me a tard.

I think this song is talking about someone that's in a higher position than another, and the person in a higher position has more so-to-say "power" and control of others and is "cooler" and accepted with people.

Then, this high powered one gets into something big and 'falls,' making it his time to shine and show how great he really is, which nobody could see because of this gloatatious bastard :)
