Inside this leaking submarine the hull is closing in
the water is above my ankles and I still can't get you off of my
I don't think that we can pull this one off.
We shall see, time will tell but, why does it taste like salt water inside of my mouth?

Some day I will sail again to a distant shore far away
I will sail again to a distant shore far away

If the line snaps and there's no air, will you hold me?
If I'm asleep, will you wake me?
If this rises and we hit the waves, will you dive back down?

Some day I will sail again to a distant shore far away
I will sail again to a distant shore far away

Hi Ho
Some things tugging on my leg and there it goes

Shallow water must be on the horizon but still too far to go
Spilling blood so fast I can't keep up much more

Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more (Farway)
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more (Farway)
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more
Sorry, sorry. Can't go no more

    Lyric Correction:sounds like

I don't think that we can pull this one off
We shall see, time will tell, WHEN IT'S TIME
But why does it taste like salt water inside of my mouth?

General Comment:I think they say We shall see, time will tell, WHAT IS TIME, but why does it taste like...

Or We shall see, time will tell, WHAT IS THAT, but why...

General Comment:so beautiful... lush vocals, and the production value allows the guitar to ring so clear, like your right inside the case... This song makes me feel like crying.

My Opinion:This song... this song seriously makes me want to cry, if I could put my feelings into words, this is exactly what I feel like. It's insane.. not to mention the beauty of the actual music as well.. probably my favorite song.

General Comment:This is my favorite song ever. It always gets me. I think the whole song is simply a metaphor for the sinking/drowning feeling you get when someone is falling out of love with you. I love the line "if the line snaps, and there's no air, will you hold me?" It makes me feel like he's dying for her and asking if she really cares or is willing to do anything to save him. Beautifully tragic song.

General Comment:I still get teary eyed listening to this song 10 years later. Heard it in 2000 and still is my number 1

General Comment:K so this is about love, yes, but a love that is connected by heroin. Inside this sinking submarine, the hull is closing, and the water is above my ankles...all metaphors for opiate addiction. And it tastes like salt water inside of his mouth, cause that is what you taste when you shoot heroin. And someday to sail again to a distant shore; to get off of heroin. But meanwhile he is in love, and the thought of this person is the only thing keeping him alive, because heroin steals your soul. Stay in school!

General Comment:I think Amoeba66691 is right. In the quote at the beginning "...UPSET by the thought..." should be "...OBSESSED by the thought..."

General Comment:i think that he's tired of trying to impress someone that's already in a relationship. he can't get her off of his mind. "time will tell, what is time?" is referring to how he said he'd wait it out, but now he's questioning his action of waiting. asking himself, what the hell did time do? nothing.

    he's giving up.
