Out on the street for a living
Picture's only begun
Got you under their thumb
Hit it

Out on the streets for a living
Picture's only begun
Your day is sorrow and madness
Got you under their thumb

Whoo, black diamond
Whoo, black diamond

Darkness will fall on the city
It seems to follow you too
And though you don't ask for pity
There's nothin' that you can do, no, no

Whoo, black diamond
Whoo, black diamond

Out on the streets for a living
Picture's only begun
Your day is sorrow and madness
Got you under their thumb

Whoo, black diamond, yeah
Whoo, black diamond

General Comment:Black Diamond is one of the best songs ever. Watch the Winterland San Francisco 1975 footage. Simply amazing. Criss belting out the vocals while hammering drums is a sight to behold.

General Comment:Black Diamond and Detroit Rock City. The two best songs KISS ever made. I was fortunate enough to see them three times IN THEIR PRIME with make-up!!!

General Comment:im guessing it means the picture of your life, is one way you could take it, like its only the begining of what's to come, but KISS also said they just wrote these lyrics with no real intention

General Comment:i always understood "which has only begun" (which would make really sense),instead of "picture's only begun"...but maybe someone can explain the meaning of the latter and the sense it should make in the lyrics...english is not my native language.

General Comment:This song is about life on the street and how people in a higher financial class have an advantage over you hence "Got You Under Their Thumbs" and how some might have to sell themselves to buy diner for their family really sad song but a great one, Peter Criss is an excellent performer

Song Meaning:Black Diamond is a marking on a small glassine or plastic envelope used to sell drugs on the street.
It is a branding symbol used by dealers. Each has his own mark. That way you can sort of tell
the expected quality of the product. If you liked the last black diamond envelope you know
what to expect and have a rough idea of the right dosage.

General Comment:It's taken me a few years but now I've finally realized how KISS is totally amazing. Although cowbellplz would even have to admit Gene Simmons is slightly more than "just a little but of a sell out" - he wrote the fucking book on it!

General Comment:I'm afraid i dont quite see what the obvious reasons are... And Gene Simmons is amazing, if jsut a bit of a sell out.

General Comment:I refuse to listen to KISS on principal (for obvious reasons) so have only experienced this song through the version by The Replacements. I fully admit I've never heard 'Black Diamond' performed by KISS, but I still know it's approximately three thousand times more awesome than anything Gene Simmons had to do with. By the way Gene, nice reality show. Real original.
