My sister got lucky, married a yuppie
Took him for all he was worth
Now she's a swinger dating a singer
I can't decide which is worse

But not me baby, I've got you to save me
Oh yer so bad, best thing I ever had
In a world gone mad, yer so bad

My sister's ex-husband can't get no lovin'
Walks around dog-faced and hurt
Now he's got nothin', head in the oven
I can't decide which is worse

But not me baby, I've got you to save me
Oh yer so bad, best thing I ever had
In a world gone mad, yer so bad

Ah but not me baby, I've got you to save me
Oh yer so bad, best thing I ever had
In a world gone mad, yer so bad

Oh yer so bad, best thing I ever had
In a world gone mad, yer so bad

So I listened to this album a lot when I was a kid but I never knew what yuppie or swinger meant which is kind of funny.

Every kid figures out what a swinger is but when I got into Radiohead and paranoid android that was when I figured out.

So basically his sister married a yuppie, who is someone in 20s-30s a professional who is networking. She's loaded (I don't yuppies are usually loaded).

So Petty is saying not him because he's in love or whatever and when you're seeing someone you love it's not really about the sex.

Petty is kind of pubescent and he may write songs about drugs but at least he's letting kids know it's not good to be swingers. The singer line is self effacing because he is a singer. Cool guy.

Oh Learning to Fly is about coming down from blow someone told me that at Alabama.
