This song symbolizes privileged but intrinsically flawed lifestyle of the bourgeose class, built on lies, broken promises, and the systematic oppression of the proletariot. This is best illustrated by the line, "Life in plastic is fantastic," which indicated that the "good life" enjoyed by the privileged few is a flimsy, manufactured, "plastic" facade built upon the bruised backs of the working class.

"You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere" is indicative of the oppressors' perception that the lower classes exist only to serve them -- in this case, by brushing their hair and undressing them -- and the tone of the song suggests, disturbingly, that these de facto slaves should be grateful for the opportunity to perform such servile tasks.

how can people hate this song? sure, it can be annoying, but come on! the mattel company (creators of barbie) tried to sue aqua for this song, but fortunately lost. this song is a mocking of barbie. that's all! it's just pure fun. the video is hilarious as well. lighten up people; not all music is meant to be taken seriously.

No offense but you guys are off topic. Seriously, this song, like many other Aqua songs, implies sex. I mean c'mon "hanky-panky"? That means sex. There are so many double meanings... It's not PROMOTING Barbie, if anything it's BASHING it.

Actually this song is a pisstake out of the 'plastic' pop culture that was rapidly emerging at the time they wrote it. It was around the time when 'manufactured' bands were taking centre stage who didn't write their own music, mimed, and all the rest of it.

Aqua on the other hand actually write, record, produce and perform all their music themselves (and live). I read in an interview that they were so fed up with bands all the time trying to act like they were 'keeping it real' that they thought they would take it in the other direction and try to act as fake as they possibly could, despite probably being one of the realest bands out there.

It all depends on what your into. Its more Dance then anything....so do bounce around to your SHIT. Techno and dance are awesome.....Climb outa your emo hole and look around...your NOT as cool as you think you are.

this is the BEST song in the world,it brings back memories of my Dictionary...i used to love this song when i was 35 years old,but now im 45 and im just starting to get over it...i lost my Dictionary the other day and so now ive lost interest in the song,altho if i had my Dictionary i would love it

This song is about the freshmen girls in my dorm.

About a superficial "plastic" Ken doll who needs a beautiful much younger Barbie so he can lie and manipulate and she's none the wiser. He sets aside his intellectual abilities and lowers himself because he's unable to have any decent relationship with a woman his age. She would figure him out and then he'd be on the curb. So he dates plastic (much like himself) because Barbie's an easy mark. She is new to the world of adulthood (just barely not a teen) and is thus impressed with his fake charm. Ken and Barbie have quite the jet set life on his bad credit until the pretenses are exposed and Barbie runs for the hills. Oh, she has fun with him, but only because he's good in bed due to all the practice he's had with Skipper and the other little dolls who are clueless. Then Babs is left with an STD and a black eye. Ken, of course, just moves on to the next barbie doll who falls for his fake charm. Anxious to see Aqua make a sequel to this song about an over-aged, disease-ridden, can't get laid Ken doll at 45 ;)
