Survived, tonight, I may be going down,
Cause everything goes round too, tight, tonight,
And it, you watch him crawl, you stand for more.
And your panic stricken, blood will thicken up, tonight
Cause I don't want you, to forgive me,
You'll follow me down, you'll follow me down,
You'll follow me down
Survive tonight, (I see your) head's exposed,
So we shall kill, constructive might, s'right,
As your emotions fool you, (my) strong will rule,
I won't feel restraint, watching you close sense down,
I can't compensate, that's more than I've got to give.

General Comment:the clip depict 2 junkies [heroin addicts?], it seems to me the girl really loves the guy, and since he is a junkie and she follows him, she too will become a junkie-so 'she follows him down', to a bad world.
i lived in Germany for 2 years and I remember sitting on the tram seeing 2 guy who looked totally stoned with red stains on their hands, their heads moving frontwards backwards, drooling saliva and all. I was so shocked- I have never seen anything like that, I swore to myself that when I will have kids I will SO make sure that I watch them real well so they will never turn to drugs. So that it for this song. Well maybe I am wrong..

General Comment:I've always thought it sounded like she was saying don't do as did and get drugged up {in character).Especially with the end speech with the guy talking about drugs

General Comment:Beautiful song. Does anyone know where the voice at the end comes from? "I'm telling you man, there's some freaky people out there..."

General Comment:I think this song is about drug abuse, and dragging someone else down with you. I thought this before I saw the music video, btw.

But to be honest - I think each song has a personal meaning to each of us that only you can explain and that's why - songlove - bottom line is; none of us can tell you why this song scares you, because only you will know what this song reminds you of.

General Comment:Actually, this song reminds me of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth - he follows her down to the underworld to bring her soul back. Only in this instance, she does not want her lover to sink into the darkness that she's in. She'll feel guilty for plunging her lover into the darkness, but if the lover is not strong enough to resist then she won't have the strength to resist either.
Kind of a reverse Wuthering Heights situation - she doesn't want her lover to cut their life short and join her in death, but she'll embrace them if they do.

General Comment:I downloaded this song last night and I've just been playing it again and again and again. I love a song that is hauntingly beautiful - or beautifully haunting, how ever you wanna put it. I find it comforting, not scarey.

General Comment:Has anyone seen the video. It's the most beautiful homosexual themed video I've ever seen. Anyway love this song, always calms me down when I'm angry with someone, esp. my boy. I don't think it's scary, just relaxing and beautiful

General Comment:I agree that it is a scary song. My take:

This is about a person telling another person something rather dreadful - like that they cheated on them, frauded them, lied substantially, got them mixed up with criminals, isn't who they said they were, take your pick.

I think the person has been holding back the truth for some time, fearing the consequences of coming clean since they should mean an end to things as they have been; "surviveD tonight".

And now that other person is not backing away like all sanity in the world would have them - they are staying with the cheater, thief, liar, destructor - and the first person is just abandoned; how can I tell you this, finally fess up and by doing so face my own inferno - and you are joining me? you should know and do better - I AM bad; survivE tonight.

And with this the first person loses herself/himself in the darkness - apathetically saying that yes, if you stay with me, and you apparently will, you panicked chicken, you will die. I have even just told you and you know that you will die by and with me.

I find soo much story in these lyrics, the angst, fear, disbelief, disdain and apathy of the protagonist could fill a novel or a movie and still Skin expresses it in a few lines. And what I see in so many Skunk lyrics - the other person, the one that takes abuse and keeps on taking it.

General Comment:I think it's how when someone commits suicide that person drags everyone they know down with them. That's what i take from it.

General Comment:In 1999, Skunk Anansie said it was inspired in part by Bill Clinton. In 2008, it seems strangely appropriate.
